My wife and I have heard great things on Vandy's, so thought we would try it this past Tuesday night. We arrived, the Statesboro, mall location, and it was decent entering, had a nice size sitting area towards the back. Noticed some tears on the seats of the booths, from wear and my wife and I were seated. The temp was cold, air blowing on us, and looking over the menu, was surprised no ribs, or brisket listed. I ordered a small bbq plate, plenty of pulled pork for the portion. My wife ordered a bbq sandwich. We had onion rings for an appetizer. Service was really slow, especially since they were not that busy, we spent almost 2 hours there. When checking out, we went to the counter, and they had a couple take out customers there, but again, long wait, about 15mins. There was a manager standing behind him talking and such, but did not attempt to assist and take our payment. For 20.00 was not bad price wise, but will never return there again.
Where to eat Seafood food in Statesboro: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We stopped at Deacon Blues for lunch on a cold rainy weekend. During the middle of lunch hour, there were only two other tables of patrons so there were plenty of tables available. We ordered ribs and sides. The owner was very friendly and visited with us during our visit. The wait staff was also friendly. I really wanted to like this place. But the food was not good. The ribs were over cooked and tough. The side macaroni and cheese has obviously been sitting in a tray under a warming light for hours. It was hard congealed and greasy. The food was also lukewarm. I wouldn't eat here again.

The chopped pork plate was tender and not fatty! Their original BBQ sauce was really good not to hot or sweet. They have sweet potato fries that you can actually taste the potato!! And I got honey to go with them! The price was good and the tea was sweet! My kind of meal.
Pit-smoked with oak and pecan wood, our award-winning BBQ will melt in your mouth. We specialize in pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausage. We have awesome Brunswick stew, mac n cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and loaded potato salad!
We came across Hopeulikit BBQ on a road trip. It is kind of out there but the parking lot was full-which is a good sign. We ordered ribs, brisket, and pork sandwiches. Our sides were baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad. Everything was absolutely delicious including the homemade sauces on the table. The service was amazing too. We were told theyâve only been open for a couple of months. The community knows a good thing when they see it. Even at 2:00 the place was booming! I love finding gems like this! They even encourage you to sign their walls! It was so great to have your family join us for lunch. Thanks for the great review. We hope you come back soon! Hopeulikit BBQ...we know you will!

I really enjoyed our visit to this Georgia institution. The BBQ is very good and served on white sandwich bread. Extremely reasonably priced. I rarely comment on other TripAdvisor reviews, however I see a recent on on th ambiance... seriously??? Vandy's is FULL of wonderful ambiance - accept Vandy's for what it is - a real BBQ place - not fancy, not fake, and not new - just real with real BBQ at prices for real people. Then I see another giving Vandy's a terrible and for fish - well, I have no idea about their fish but it is a BBQ restaurant.OK - sorry about that - the potato salad was good. There is plenty of free parking. I enjoyed my first visit and will eat here again.Go enjoy!

As I often do, I visited the Smoque Pit based on TA reviews. It was a clear, cool (almost) spring day - a nice day for a drive so I went the 60 miles from Savannah to Statesboro. I ordered the Brisket Plate. The sides (Brunswick Stew and baked beans) were very good but the brisket was the best I ever had. At the owners suggestion, I tried the sauce. It was great. The servers (GSU students) were terrific: friendly and efficient.
