Was at the post office the other day in Springfield, was checking trip advisor for a place to grab lunch and Willie Mae's popped up only 143 feet away!! Parking is limited so I parked on the side street. So glad I did!! This quaint little place was amazing!! There was a line, and the lady running the front was great!! I told her this was my first visit and as busy as she was she made me feel like I was the only customer in there. She explained everything on the menu and even made some suggestions. They make everything there to include all the sides. The brisket sandwich which I had cole slaw added on top was the best I have ever had!! Very moist and full of flavor. Also had the bake beans that were delicious!!Can't wait to take friends!!
Great place for BBQ, ribs, fried chicken. Family owned for 4 generations. The BBQ sauce is Vinegar based with a wonderful smokey taste. The fried Chicken is my favorite in Springfield. Pies are made locally. I visit frequently to eat in or take out.
Where to eat American food in Springfield: The Best Restaurants and Bars

At least 10 people in line when we arrived. The employees were friendly and efficient. The line moved quickly, but continued as long as we were in the restaurant. The drive thruwas lined up. The Wednesday special for a bar-b-que sandwich is $1.99. Loaded with meat. Great value.
I had the beef sandwich with mayo and pickle and held the cole slaw. It's more roast beef sandwich than smoked brisket, but that's not a bad thing. The meat was lean and well cooked. The bread was fresh and the potato salad had good flavor. A simple choice for lunch that beat fast food.
