For a restaurant in Africa, this is pretty good! Hamburgers, ribs, chicken sandwiches, etc. Good coffee as well. The homemade peri peri hot sauce is excellent on most everything. I (as a Texan) highly recommend the Texas Chicken Burger. It has a spicy breading, and if you put their string-style onion rings on it with a slice of cheese, it is tasty goodness. BTW, my colleagues and I ate at Spur restaurants almost daily for 2 weeks. The service and food quality was consistently good throughout 6 different locations in 2 nations. Spur is evidently doing a good job in their training of wait staff and cook staff. I will definitely be here eating again when I am in country!

On holiday, we decided to visit the nearest Spur. What an unpleasant visit. On a hot evening, air conditioning not working and no alcoholic cold drinks available. The meat dish consisting of steak, wors, ribs and chicken with veg was dry and unpleasant. Fortunately I was passing through Johannesburg and will not be frequenting this place in futureDear burgerjp,Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. This well established restaurant has been here some time & has a great atmosphere & friendly staff. The menu is quite extensive & caters for a variety of tastes. However, was disappointed with all the hype around the steaks from grass fed animals. Had medium rare to medium fillet steaks & found them quite tough. Must be an acquired taste.Hi KarenThank you for your review.We have an immediate exchange policy for just this reason...so sorry you have to chew through a piece of beef you didn't enjoy.After the ageing process the beef should be tender and juicy and we only select beef from farmers that are very selective and care for the well being of their bovine. Disoufeng Pub is one of those hidden township gems that offers a visitor a relaxed quality vibe that lingers long after you have left the place. Professionally run with a hand on owner, the place oozes a charming ambience. Host to live entertainment and other surprise events, Disoufeng is one of those memorable Pubs to visit! Located in a shopping complex the place has secure parking and an air of professional atmosphere about it. Excellently managed and run with friendly staff and a very welcoming host and owner Tebogo (popularly known as Tebogo Disoufeng). On some Wednesday night, it plays host to the Midweek Groove Tour sessions (MGT). A cluster of 10 hospitality businesses that aim to enhance quality midweek nightlife and entertainment in the township.The place is relaxed and beautiful, the food is good and the people are awesome! Safe and enjoyable environment. Will certainly revisit!

This old dame never disappoints. There is certainly a reason they have been around for so long. Maintaining the charm of a 60s/70s steakhouse. The waiting staff to management radiate old school warm, family hospitality. The food is certainly better than most fancy, trendy steakhouses in JHB. Their ribs are the star of the show. Ribs you will be craving soon after your 1st visit. Even their side dishes are pure comfort. If you feel like a starter before the gigantic rib portion, the prawn cocktail took me on a stroll down memory lane. Simple but delicious. The desserts will ring a few bells too! Will be back again and again. Saul, our waiter, was a gem. Donât know why all restaurants cannot maintain this kind of service and passion amongst staff. Winning formula.

There is nothing I like less than to see other people eating food that looks better than mine ESPECIALLY when I was told there were only 3 choices...flank steak, pork chops, and lamb. As I was eating my not-that-great flank steak I see one of the servers pulling something out of a pot and slicing it up. Whatâs this? I think to myself. As I watch her put down a plate of delicious looking ribs piled high on a plate at the table behind me, I looked down at my sad piece of meat and wondered why I hadnât been offered the same thing. Well, I can tell you why! Iâm a white tourist and the other customers were not. I will never recommended or go back to this restaurant. ALL tourists should know that you are getting the crappy meat while others are getting the good stuff. PREJUDICE plain and simple plus their beans were too spicy (and I like spicy food), the coleslaw was too goopy, and the corn meal not cooked enough so it was ineffective for picking up food. Terrible food, terrible service, and no atmosphere (outside is fairly interesting but not worth the drive to).
