Find out what Barbecue restaurants to try in San Giovanni d'Asso. About a 25-mile drive southeast of Siena in the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Crete Senesi region, San Giovanni d'Asso is home to just a few hundred people. The highlight is the 12th-century castle, which now houses town offices. Directly opposite the castle is Villa San Giovanni, complete with a hanging garden, which is rentable by the week. The town is home to two lovely old churches, San Giovanni Battista and San Pietro in Villore. Every November, San Giovanni d'Asso holds a Truffle Festival.

Tuscany kitchen, with Tuscan menù from Antipasto to Dessert ; Tables inside and outside in the garden;
We stayed at this agriturismo for a week and during 2 nights enjoyed dinner at the restaurants. They serve great, fresh local cuisine at an affordable price: for 25 euros you get 4 dishes (antipasti, pasta, meat, desert) and wine + coffee included. In summer you can sit on the nice terrace and enjoy dinner with the other guests of the agriturismo. Service is good and friendly. Highly recommended.

We decided last minute to dine in San Quirico. We were a large group of 16, so we werenât sure we could find a place. But at Vecchio Forno we were quickly welcomed. Our dinner was excellent. Ate one of the best caccio e pepe of my life. Everything was great, from the welcoming service, the bustling ambiance to the simple traditional fare.

We really enjoyed the food and wine on our first night in Pienza. Will we be able to better it? I doubt it. We had cheese on toast to start but so nice with truffle or walnuts with it. Then followed by the pica ragu or boar pasta. All great

Our first night in Tuscany and we had earmarked this restaurant based on previous T/A posts and was absolutely spot on. Everything was perfect. Simple but sublime pasta, great wine recommendation, beautiful garden setting, friendly waitstaff. Could not fault this restaurant. If you are driving, there is no parking next to the restaurant - you need to park down the hill in the 'public' carpark about 200m and then walk back up.

We stayed in the Villa Zaffereno just around the corner from the restaurant - the village is very isolated but i liked that about it. Having a restaurant within walking distance was a great bonus to us as we felt we had the best of both worlds. The beef, rocket and parmesan is to die for - fantastic beef and so much of it. The plates of cheese we had went down well with everyone - we bought a round of strong cheese back with us - if you buy direct from their farm its a really good price. Staff really welcoming and just a really lovely atmosphere. To say it is so isolated it was busy most nights. Highly recommended. Their house red wine was really good too.
