Very good food provided by some friendly staff. Breakfast is a bit expensive in my opinion but was good quality

After visiting Chez Francois several times, we've learned a thing or two.Come here if: you appreciate a no-nonsense professional approach to dining, an expertly, simply cooked meal, an intimate, elemental environment, a memorable, local experience. Don't come here if: you expect haute cuisine, overtly friendly waitstaff catering to your every whim, you are vegetarian, you are claustrophobic, you don't eat pork, you plan on bringing the kids. That said, we love this restaurant. We grill almost everything we eat at home, so finding a place that not only grills locally sourced meat over a wood fire but perfectly prepares the entrees in a simple manner is a refreshing approach. Entrees are served with hand cut fries and a delicious salad. The portions are perfectly sized and the prices are fair. Always go with the suggested wine pairing as it has been thoughtfully selected. Monsieur Francois takes his job of host, waiter and chef very seriously and executes his duties perfectly. That doesn't leave much time for small talk, so don't expect it nor hold it against him. Reservations are a must as the hours and seatings are limited. Thank goodness for trains. We intend to return each time we visit France, no matter how far away we are.

We have been meaning to book a restaurant especially for New year's eve for many years. Last night we attended our first "reveillon " in France.The meal was excellent in every way, restaurant was looking beautifully festive with fresh flowers on every table. The advertised menu at â¬47.50 delivered at every course from the welcoming kir Grabotais to the fine selection of mini desserts just before midnight.I loved the fois gras plate and was fascinated to watch the very professional patron cook steak for 43 guests on a roaring open fire. Praise also to the owner who accommodated my daughter's request for vegetarian options in place of the advertised fish and meat.Overall a great night was had by all, highly recommended at any time of the year but particularly welcoming in Winter where the locals were as friendly as the owner and his young staff member. The vin du moment was also very good quality and reasonably priced.We will definitely be back.

Dined here twice in a recent visit in May. On both occasions the food was very good and the service excellent. Very reasonably priced also.
