My family eats here on a regular basis. We get the family size order, where you get a big container of barbecue, along with buns to make sandwiches with and sides. I love their barbecue! It has a really great sweet flavor, and it's very juicy - and that's without any sort of sauce! They also have many side dishes to choose from. Their mac-n-cheese tends to be well received. This is a great meal to bring home after a long day of work, but Whitt's barbecue could also be great for a nice picnic as well!

I live in NW Alabama, there used to be a Famous Dave's in Florence, but it closed after the landlord jacked up the rent. The entire region mourned the loss of the best BBQ in the region. There was another Famous Dave's in Franklin, SW of Nashville, at least we could get our FD's fix whenever we flew out of Nashville, then it closed.I had to take a quick trip to FL and on the flight back I realized, there were others in the area. SIRI showed me the one in Hermitage, just 10 mins from the airport, so there I went. The smell when you walk in will have you instantly drooling. We used to get the rib dinners, then take ribs home. I just wanted takeout to surprise my wife, who missed FD's as much as I do. I was considering two rib dinners when I spotted the Feast for Two! Amazing amount of food for just a few $ more. Includes ribs, two half chickens, brisket, baked beans, slaw, potato salad, and 4 delicious cornbread muffins.I had a three hour drive with the wonderful smells permeating the car, then, finally got home and surprised the wife. My wife couldn't have been happier when I walked in the door with that huge package. We got three full meals out of that package. We had never tried their brisket before, it was delicious.

The live music was just great....but you can espape it by going inside if you wish, and sitting at a table or booth. Great selection of drinks on offer and table service as well. The place had a real music city laid back feel about it.

I ordered the ribs with green beans and creamy slaw. There was a cornbread patty which accompanied it, plus I ordered a dill pickle and fried okra. The green beans had some ground pork which was unique and the mayo in the slaw had to be homemade because it had a very unique taste. The cornbread patty I had never seen before and was great. Six sauces on the table was the perfect number (one for each rib of the half slab) and each was slightly unique compared to other BBQ joints I have visited.
Open hours Wed-Sun: 11-19About 20 minutes after driving past a roadside barbecue place that looked like it was operated out of a trailer, though I later discerned many other details, I considered the fact that during the first half of my week long barbecue trip to Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee, the best barbecue Iâd had was not as good as the worst I had in Texas last February. But this place ââ it smelled so good that I could not believe it. The next day, after swimming my mile, I had the obvious flash of insight. I drove to the place that smelled good although I didnât know its name nor had I researched it using a an internet browser prior to arrival. I had only my taxi driverâs training to permit me to return to any place I had been to before. It smelled just as good as I remembered from the day before. It turned out to have the name Gourmet Ribs, and it offered items that Iâve never seen before at a barbecue joint, such as grilled cabbage. Also the menu offered smoked catfish strips, âwhiting fishâ sandwich, chickens, pork ribs, beef brisket, Boston butt, and pork, presumably loin. Also mentioned were chicken wings, turkey legs, and hotlinks. On the back of their menu it says âIf it moos weâll smoke it, If it oinks weâll smoke it, If it clucks weâll smoke it, If it gobbles weâll smoke it, If it swims weâll smoke it, But if it hisses you can shoot itâThe brisket was perhaps not the very most tender brisket Iâve ever eaten, but it had delicious flavor, and it was difficult to eat because it continued to fall apart into little tiny strips when ever I tried to gather enough of it onto a fork to dip in the sauce. This caused me to declare it tender enough. The russet brown grilled cabbage was absolutely delicious, unlike any cabbage I have ever tasted. I might want some other kind of cabbage again in my life, but it would be after I have had quite a lot of this to eat. Gourmet Ribs had the best sauces that I have tasted on the trip. The mild sauce wasnât that mild. There was a good balanced flavor with some contributions from mustard some contribution from tomatoes some contribution from capsicum and some contribution from vinegar. The hot sauce combined similar flavor elements but with a far more prominent contribution from capsicum. The potato salad was sweet, but I magnanimously forgave it.A single tasty pork rib was presented as a gift, possibly because the proprietors couldnât stand to see only beef being eaten. As the dust was clearing and after I had ordered dinner for that night I said âWhat are yâallâs names?â Their response was âGourmet Ribsâ I burst out laughing, âWhat? Youâre Gourmet and heâs Ribs?â I quickly added, to set an example, âIâm Bill.â Finally they got it and started laughing too. The man in the red T-shirt said that he was Dennis in the man in the purple T-shirt said that he was Ronnie. There was a warming pit in the trailer, and there was another pit, one for actual cooking, made from the propane tank right out by the highway. What I had smelled received contributions for each of the two pits. The whole ârestaurantâ was very oddly built around an abandoned self-serve car wash, providing shady parking for a few vehicles.Upon arrival 15 minutes before closing time to pick up the food ordered earlier in the day I found three stressed customers in the parking lot talking on cell phones. One man said into his phone, âI have just given you a list of what they have. Instead of asking me for what they donât have, why donât you ask me for something that was on the list I told you of what they do have?"I had suspected that exactly that sort of thing would interfere with my ability to obtain what I wanted for dinner, which was why I ordered it earlier in the day and paid for it then too. Within earshot of everyone in the parking lot, Ronnie said to Dennis, âI have the rib plate for him.â What made this interesting was that at the time in this utterance when one would be expected to hear Ronnie say the word âribâ he made no sound, but rather moved his lips as though he were pronouncing the word rib. I presumed he did this so as to prevent me from being set upon with malign intent by the ravenous knot in parking lot. When I got back to the motel with the food, I found that the ribs justified the already high opinion I had formed of Gourmet Ribs, and that the grilled cabbage was even better in the evening than at mid-day. The slaw was sweet but I forgave them. This place was better than the worst place I ate in Texas last February, better indeed. I recommend it with much enthusiasm.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on our last night in Nashville. We went to Nashville for a vacation / convention for me, and wanted to go to an authentic southern restaurant on our last night in Nashville. We both had bison burgers with chipotle mayonnaise. They had a very small band that played bluegrass. they also had a little pond that had life catfish. there were various types of fish including catfish on the menu as well as BBQ Chicken & ribs. We had dessert; I had authentic Key Lime pie, which was absolutely delicious. I never had authentic Key Lime pie before, and I would like to learn how to make it myself; it was that good. The atmosphere was really neat as far as a real country feel. They even had a replica of a Dodge truck from the 30s. the food was excellent, the waiter Kris was excellent, it was just really a neat experience overall. I highly recommend it.
