Very clean and friendly place. Quick seating and service. Lots of seating both inside and outdoors. BBQ was excellent. Meat, both pork and beef were lean but very tender and tasty. Uniquely cut french fries, cooked to order, that had great potato taste and texture. Very pleased and will return!
Ever seen those food network shows where some self proclaimed chef travels the back roads of America in search of a hidden jewel of an eatery ? Well, perhaps Cason's deserves a segment of one of those shows. Although this family tradition BBQ was once called The Honkey Tonk many moons ago and at a different location, the Cason name has been and remains part of it's history. The story goes that an original building had burned down leaving only the original pit standing amongst the rubble. With some work from friends, neighbors, and the community, they were able to rebuild the structure and continue the tradition of serving some of the best original style BBQ in the south. Not only will you find the awesome sliced beef and pork, but ox tail, fried chicken, and more are available. My dinner plate came with not two, but three side dishes. Today I chose the collard greens, potato salad and the macaroni and cheese. All three were home made and some of the best I have ever had. The potato salad was cold, creamy and fresh tasting. The collards.... mmmm ,,, and double mmmmm, and the macaroni and cheese a delicious meal all in itself. The sweet tea and home made lemonade are a favorite of allot of the patrons, and if you like em sweet, Cason's likes to serve em sweet. I can only say, it must be one glorious day at the Cason family home at Thanksgiving, if they serve up anything even half as good as what they serve to their customers. If they ever invite me, I wonder if they will be offended if I bring my own to-go box for leftovers ??? The location and the building can be a little difficult to find as it's in a non business neighborhood. Parking is haphazard at best, and the building unassuming and small with little signage, but for me it only adds to my precious jewel found in the rough experience. Just a couple of covered picnic tables are available outside for seating, otherwise carryout seems a popular method of service here. Order at the walk up window, wait for your stuff, then have a seat and savor the flavor. Nuthin fancy! Not for sure on the hours, but seems to me they are closed Sunday, but call to be sure. They are also open much later than I expected (to like 9 or 10 PM), again, it's probably best to call if you are making a special trip. If you are a tourist traveling through Florida and could use a great meal that doesn't include a map of Florida place mat or Mickey Mouse ear drink straws, Cason's will be a memorable stop. It's only about 10 minutes from I-75, and the town of Newberry is full of old small town charm. So, get off of the beaten pavement path and treat yourself to real Florida and some of the best, good for your soul food you may ever eat. This ... is the real deal.

Sonny's BBQ of Gainesville. Southern BBQ at its finest. Slow-smoking favorites like pulled pork, ribs, brisket since 1968.
This is a newer Sonny's. Seated promptly and greeted by server, Blake. Had a few questions about menu, with which he was very proficient. Wound up ordering: 1) Pork and Rib Combo and 2) Pulled and Sliced Pork Combo. Pulled pork was succulent with great smoky flavor but served at room temperature. Ribs were very tender and not over sauced. Cornbread muffins very crumbly, sweet and served cold--not a good idea. Sweet potatoes very, very hot and skin burned--served in foil. Server didn't offer alternatives to cold pork and muffin.Hi there John, Thank you for takin' the time to share your experience with us. We, Beque holic, is Korean premium table BBQ restaurant.
This restaurant was busy. We had to wait about half an hour to get seated. Service was excellent. Our waiter explained all the dishes and the options available. We grilled or own food and had fun trying the various little side dishes that are included. We split a meal and there was plenty for 2 people.
