I'm local, and I love Tank's. Their hamburgers are absolutely wonderful, and their ribs are to die for. What great food!

Since 1952, serving authentic wood-smoked barbecue with all the fixin's. Choose from our delicious Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, Pulled Pork, Chopped BBQ or Turkey, and top it off with some warm peach or cherry cobbler, banana pudding or a chocolate caramel pre
I was worried about the mixed reviews but decided I wanted to see for myself. It has been a BBQ place since 1952 and the location downtown makes it easy for lunch or dinner. This is not a fancy place but it is authentic, you order at the counter then take a seat or takeout. I chose a half rack of ribs and jalapeño sausage. It came with two sides so I had pinto beans and slaw (which is vinegar based). The ribs were great and so were the beans. There is a variety of sauces to try and I liked the ghost sauce which had good heat and flavor. The servers were very friendly and really seemed to care that the customers had a good experience.

If you are reading this in anticipation of traveling to Midland and are looking for some of that "Texas BBQ", please do yourself a favor. Spend the extra time to find these crazy whacked out "HOMBRE'S OF THE THE SMOKER" and in west Texas style....GET SOME.Simply, it does not get any better than this. Junior and his crew, smiling all the way, make it look so very simple. And anyone who has ever stood around a smoker with a red solo cup full of their favorite "sip" knows, good BBQ is anything but simple, but excellent BBQ, consistent BBQ is unheard of....then Up In Smoke comes along and blows that theory completely out of the the top of their smoker. If you are new to this part of the country, let me just say two things. Brisket and ribs. These are what a true Pitmaster spends a life or generations perfecting. Junior has done this, and done it well, over and over again.I'll say it one last time - Find Up In Smoke, have their Brisket (I like a little fatty end myself) and have a slab of ribs, know that the meal you are having is one of the best anywhere in Texas. And by some of the best people you will ever know. Thanks for coming out and enjoying our BBQ

Had Chicken Fried Steak, Collard Greens and Mac-n-Cheese with a delicious slice of cornbread. The menu is limited and very authentic. Scotty is in the kitchen at the controls and making every spoonful special. Why eat at the chains when you can get Soul Food and BBQ the way it's supposed to be!

Ribs were delicious.Brisket - cooked perfectly and crusted perfectly but lacked in flavor. It was good just a little bland.Pulled pork - didn't personally have but the guy I was with gets every time.I would definitely come back and try some of the other items. Highly recommend if you are in Midland!

This is "the real deal." Arguably the best BBQ in Texas. I'm a big fan of their brisket and sausage; but everything is superb. The collection of memorabilia is phenomenal. You won't want to go anyplace else after you've eaten at KD's.
