Reviews on Barbecue food in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Memphis is a pilgrimage for those wanting to visit the birthplace of the blues, of soul and of rock 'n' roll. On Beale Street, W.C. Handy put down on paper the first written blues music. Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash all recorded at the historic Sun Records, which is now a museum. Graceland, the second most-visited home in America, welcomes visitors from around the world who yearn for a peek into the life of "the King." Beyond the music, Tennessee's largest city also offers much more. It has more sunny days each year than Miami, and combines southern tradition and hospitality with modern amenities. You'll enjoy great dining (be sure to sample the barbecued ribs), art galleries and exciting nightlife.

Ribs were perfect, meaty deliciously sauced with just the slightest tug off the bone. Pulled pork sandwich was hugmongeous. Pork was lean, had a nice bark that the sauce rode well. Impressive buffet that had we succumbed to temptation would have required a wheel barrow to get me out of there. Service was agreeable and there were a lot of smiles there, working and eating.

Of all the clubs and bars on Beale Street, Rum Boogie Cafe is the one not to miss. If their superfine rum selection and beer aren't enough to entice you, the Cajun and barbecue menu should-ribs, fried catfish, gumbo and red beans and rice served by fast a
The key to this place is getting a table that faces the stage and band without being too close. Great rhythm and blues music played here. Center of Beale street located on the corner. Cover charge is a mere $5.00 added to your drink and/or meal tab. We enjoyed a huge BBQ burger and beer. You can stay there for hours listening to one great blues band. Atmosphere is terrific. No parking nearby. Highly recommend

The Rendezvous, founded by Charlie Vergos in 1948, started out as an 80 seat tavern serving ham and cheese sandwiches. When Charlie cleaned out the basement beneath his diner, he discovered a coal chute and started a barbecue legend. He developed a unique
Weâve heard so much about this place. Memphis institution! But ... that did NOT make for great BBQ. The local is super cool, but the ribs were not fall-off-the-bone, the sweet tea was not southern, the brisket was fatty. At least I can say the service was great and the baked beans were legit. The rest of it was overpriced for the serving size and disappointing. Iâm a southerner so maybe my level of standard is different than that of the regular tourist, but it was bland enough that I will actively recommend others not go. Wanted to enjoy it, but it missed the mark for me and my family. Hi,We are so sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. Our ribs are definitely different than most - they don't "fall off the bone" - they definitely have a bite to them. We hand-cook them over high heat in charcoal pits in the front of the restaurant in stead of using a smoker. As for the brisket, if yours was fatty, we wish you would've said something. There is always a family member on the floor ready to take care of any issue. Some love the fat some don't - we are always happy to replace to your liking. We are an almost 72 year old restaurant now - with a long history. We all - both Vergos and Rendezvous family - pride ourselves in folks leaving full and happy. We hate to hear when that is not the case. We just ask that people say something while they are here - so that we can fix any issue. It doesn't sound like you'll be back down, but if you do head back our way, please come grab one of us. We'd love to make your experience more memorable.

BBQ in Memphis is available everywhere but only a few bring in large crowds and regular followers. This is one of those worth visiting. The menu offers more than just bbq for those not wanting that venue, but bbq is the specialty. The pulled pork is nice and lean and plentyful. The rins are also very good. For those undecided you can order dry rub and or wet. A number of sifes to choose fromn but the bbq beans are heavenly and a order of fries is huge. Four different locations in the arean and I plan to visit them regularly.

Coming to Memphis, I expected to fins some great BBQ. However, I was very shocked by how average one of the supposed best BBQ places in Memphis was. The BBQ tasted average, no better then some chains I have had in other areas. The ribs and pulled pork were nothing spectacular and underwhelming, given the wait in line. The desserts were better. As crowded for the lack of seating, I really expected much more.

Home of the DANCING PIGS Bar-B-Q Sauce and Seasoning. Serving the Same Recipe for over 50 Years. "Our Pork Bar-B-Q & Beef Bar-B-Q are cooked on a real Bar-B-Q Pit, and our Mild & Hot Sauces are made from Scratch!!" - From the Owner, Frank Vernon
Had a couple locals direct us to this memphis style BBQ joint. Know for their ribs, Texas toast and of course BBQ spaghetti. They offer the ribs wet, dry and glazed, the first two are standard everywhere but the glaze is only available from the kitchen, so of course we tried it. I personally prefer the dry ribs and dunk them in their table sauce. The Texas toast is the perfect mop for that extra sauce on the plate. As for the spaghetti it was good and worth trying. They do offer samples for those not willing to take the full plunge.Eat with the locals.

My wife and I went to this restaurant with great anticipation...Unfortunately, we left completely unimpressed, The greeting was friendly and the service was fine. However, the pulled pork sandwich was served less than luke warm. Mine had a surprising amount of fat. My wife said hers was "okay." The seating was very cramped particularly when you are sitting against a wall. The price based on serving size was reasonable but not for what we got. We may go back to see if this was just an off day but probably not unless we hear rve reviews from others.Hello rs49ss47,I apologize for your warm sandwich and the fat content. We will work hard to solve these issues. We are very proud of our overall 4.5 out of 5 Bubbles on Trip Advisor and would like an opportunity to show you and your wife that we are worthy of this rating. I would like an opportunity to invite you back on me. Would you be willing to email me ([email protected]) your work or home mailing address and I will put a gift certificate in the mail immediately? Thank you for your review and I look forward to your response.Sincerely,Mike CorderVice President of OperationsOne and Only [email protected]

Pluses- fast service, he got details all right, separate checks no problem, to-go pies came out fast, reasonable prices, fun atmosphere. Large meat portions, my friends said the BBQ ribs were great. Minuses- Iâm a vegetarian, so I had mac&cheese (gummy and flour-y), green beans (tasteless), and something else. It was very disappointing. But you donât go to Corkys for anything but barbecue, so itâs my bad.meCnewplaces,Thank you for your feedback. We take pride in serving great food and providing excellent service, and while I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of the visit and your friend enjoyed the ribs, I'm disappointed to hear that we missed the mark on this visit. When you have some time, please contact me at [email protected] so that I can further discuss this, and we can use this as a learning opportunity going forward.

Family owned and operated since 1974. We specialize in Memphis BBQ and was featured in Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins. Labor day Marlowe's will be open at 4pm.
We arrived at Guest House for week-end. Called for Cadillac to pick us up for dinner. Just 2 of us. Place was not crowded and we were seated after we got picture with Elvis! We ordered a combination dinner with 2 meats and shared it. It was huge! We didn't want to take food back with us. Waitress was very sweet and helpful making suggestions. Good bar-be-que. Texas is still the best I think but Marlowe's took a close second!
