If you want to avoid the touristy hustle and bustle of Otranto, try Maglie. It is a nice and quiet in-land town only a short (20min) car ride away. We found Horus restaurant while walking through the historic center. They have a beautiful outdoor terrace with a garden and offer great value food for money. Try one of their meat dishes or the huge (delicious) pizza. The service could be a bit quicker and friendlier, though. They are currently closed on Wednesdays.

Attendere tre ore per una pizza è veramente sgradevole, nonostante avessimo avvertito il cameriere che probabilmente qualche disguido nella comanda, questo ci tranquillizzava senza essere mai operativo. Non hanno funzionato neanche le rimostranze dirette. Credo che la prossima puntata di " Cucine da incubo" la gireranno lì !!!

Locale nuova gestione della ( migliore ) Papperia... ne ricalca le peculiarità di pizzeria braceria. Pizza buona, tagliata un po' stopposa e poco saporita, frittini ok, birra servita non alla temperatura giusta, conto un tantino eccessivo per quanto proposto e la location, una pedana di legno per allargare un marciapiede ( mangi praticamente in strada ). A Corigliano difficilmente puoi sbagliarti... stavolta è andata male

Went to this very excellent new restaurant in the small town of Minervino di Lecce. You canât go wrong ordering anything on the menu here. Worth the trip if you are staying in Otranto or anywhere near. All the fish we ordered was fresh and cooked just right: the tuna, the snapper, and salted cod. Everything was presented in a very picturesque way and tasted amazing all the way to the deconstructed tiramisu for dessert. Nice ambience and the a/c didnât hurt either. Lots of special touches, donât miss this restaurant. Bon Appetito!

I had another great night in L'Allegra Scottona, watching the Manchester Derby live on TV and enjoying the absolutely delicious food and the fine draught beer. It really is a pleasant place to spend an evening and is friendly with a really positive buzz about it!

Our first attempt to eat here failed as they were catering for a wedding. Despite that, the waitress, who spoke pretty good English, was really helpful and told us of other restaurants we could try. So we made a reservation for a couple of days later. Good choice. Beautiful garden and setting. The same waitress then took us through the blackboard menu in English. We shared a delicious antipasti with grilled aubergines and courgettes, doughballs, mini bombettes, ham and cheese. My wife had a macaroni pasta and I had a puréed bean dish smothered with a chicory top. Main course we shared what was effectively a sizeable mixed grill with steak, bombette, sausage and pork and finished with a delicious lemon sorbet. There's a little car park just past the restaurant 1euro per hour if you're there before 9pm - ticket machine on the wall in the street just before the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit!!

I was extremely lucky to be introduced to this hidden gem by a friend and had returned three times in 10 days since.The owner is incredibly friendly, the food fresh, healthy and reasonably priced.I am a vegetarian. Although their specialty is meat, there are many veggie dishes on the menu. I have tried the "nonna Consiglia" antipasti (fresh local produce, a selection of cheeses including fried ricotta (a first time for me). For main meal I have had lentils, peas and chicory. The portions are very generous. Everything I've tasted was delicious, no fault. My friends had meat and they all seemed very pleased with their choices. The meal usually ends with homemade liquors offered by the house. If you're lucky as we were Tania (the owner) will sit down and have a lovely chat with you.
