Beach buffs can don their swimsuits and head for one of several beaches on seven-mile-long Geneva Lake, which also offers a plethora of water sports. Leisurely cruises on restored historic yachts and replicas of paddle wheel steamers carry passengers past stately lakefront summer mansions, including some Victorian estates. Landlubbers can take a self-guided hike around the perimeter of the lake, which stretches some 21 miles. Laid-back, however, doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do. Choose from museums, a water park for younger kids, the world's largest refracting telescope at Yerkes Observatory, entertainment at the Belfry Music Theatre or greyhound racing. Winter is even quieter but no less filled with fun. Head to The Mountain Top, a popular family ski spot, or choose from horseback riding, skating, ice boating, hayrides or sleigh rides. Whatever time of year you go, Lake Geneva will charm you.

But friendly and welcoming staff is what I experienced in this old-school tavern in the rural Lake Geneva area. Chief complaint...and correct me if I am wrong is they dont serve draft beer, just bottles and cans. Other than that, atmosphere galore, but off the beaten path.

We have been to KC's a handful of times since it has opened and every visit has been great. We love it when Melanie greets us at the door and always sit at the bar to eat and shoot the bull with Kevin. The atmosphere is nicely done yet small and cozy. I've only had the prime rib and broasted chicken and both are very good. Upgrade your dinner salad to the greek salad if it's your thing as it's amazing!!! The frog legs and also the wings get rave reviews from fellow locals and are on my must try list.Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review sharing your experiences at KC's! We often dine at the Grand Geneva restaurants (ChopHouse, Brissago, Grand Cafe) but decided to stop for breakfast at Smokey's BBQ on our way to the resort property this past January. We were happy we did. The food portions were large and tasty. Service was great from our server, Anna, who did everything we asked and more! We took the time to compliment her to her supervisor Beth and she was just as pleasant. We plan to stop here frequently on our future trips to the Grand Geneva resort. Be aware that this restaurant overlooks the water park and it can be noisy, but our breakfast choices were great and our time before their arrival was watching kids and families enjoy their water activities.
