Iâm not even done eating and already wanting to write a review. Definitely worth a stop. Everything is made in house. Plenty of beer options. Nice patio. I ordered a beer and couldnât decide to asked the bartender to surprise me. He didnât disappoint! The brisket taco rivals the taco stands I love in Texas and the pork belly corn dogs feel state fair worthy. You know you've hit a home run when they write a review while they're still eating! You best believe we make everything in house. Also, a nice crisp beer will always complement some delicious barbecue. If you're ever hungry, don't hesitate to stop by again!Best,Chris, Owner

Hickory Pit has been around forever. It's known for its smoked meats and pies, but has other menu options such as Brunswick Stew and hamburgers. The food is good, but it is very expensive for a casual barrbeque spot. My favorite item is the chopped pork sandwich. It's very good and the serving size is big. Their meats come without sauce and they have 3 sauces you can choose to add - hot, medium, and sweet. Each is a different texture and taste. I prefer a little of each for the best flavor. Their sandwiches come on standard issue hamburger buns- I'd so prefer either a wheat bun or a hoagie, but it's fine. Their chocolate pie is one of their signature items - a Hershey bar pie - and it is very rich and good. Service is spotty - I've had everyone from a med student to a grumpy older guy take my order. With consistent service and either a few upgrades or better prices, it would be a firm4, but it's not there yet for me.
Where to eat Contemporary food in Jackson: The Best Restaurants and Bars
I went here for lunch. I hope to someday experience F. Jones for blues! But anyway, all I can review is the food and atmosphere in the afternoon.BEST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD!! Whoever said Memphis had the best BBQ has not been to Frank Jones Corner in Jackson, MS. It was so delicious, sauce wasn't even needed, but of course I had sauce, because that was good enough to eat with a spoon!! Also, try their fried grits. Amazing! I'm not even a big fan of grits, but these are a must have. Just watch out, you'll be hooked. I may have dreams about this food. I wish I lived closer. They had a variety of items on their menu, including pasta, and they all looked good.Prices were very reasonable, in fact compared to food up north, pretty darn cheap! The atmosphere was a small bar. I hesitate to say dive bar, because it is a recent renovation. Dives to me sort of mean run down. This is not. Its a nice place, but not a classy sit down romantic meal type place. During the blues lunch while I was there, the music was also great. I met and talked to the owner, and some other employees. it was a very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon. He is looking forward to revitalizing Jackson, he is doing his part. That is a very worthy goal, I fell in love with this city. F.Jones doesn't have the history that Peaches and Mayflower has, but I guarantee the building does. The owner and other employees will be happy to share it with you! I hope that you will visit this wonderful gem in Jackson!
