Reviews on Barbecue food in Hvar Island, Dalmatia, Croatia. Claiming to be the sunniest spot in all of Europe, the Croatian island of Hvar is the perfect destination for tourists seeking the beauty of Mediterranean beaches without the crowds associated with more well-known destinations. Pathways lined with lavender vines lead to secluded coves, small fishing villages and local vineyards, and ferries and catamarans carry visitors across the calm, blue waters to the surrounding islands, all worthy of exploration.

We were pleasantly surprised by the location, the ambiance and the wonderful views that open from many of the tables. Someone has taken care to create a pleasant setting, using local plants to create intimate spaces for several large round tables. While octopus prepared in "peka" (and ordered in advance, per phone) was delicious, grilled squid was not as tender. It is true that service leaves a lot to be desired (were the waiters hired only recently?) But the setting, the food and good conversation can make up for this. A pleasant walk through nocturnal Pitve up to the church above the village completed our pleasant experience that evening. It was a Saturday night, yet the place was quiet, fragrant and very enjoyable. One suggestion: couldn't ladies' restroom be relocated? Being in a sauna (right next to the grill) is not the most desirable experience in summer.

Quaint 13th century style restaurant. Stunning views, great staff and tasty food. Recommend ordering a peke 24 hours before you go as they need advance notice to cook certain dishes. There is no electricity and it is such an amazing experience. The homemade wine is delicious and the fruit and veg are picked then and there for your plate!

We came here because of tripadviser reviews and it was the best decision. We had dagnje - mussels (a must) and grilled calamari. Waiters were very polite and friendly. We will sure visited this restaurant again these week. Even though we didnât have reservation and the restaurant was full at the time we arrived, they managed to get us a table in no time (we didnât even wait long; 2-3 minutes), itâs true that for two people is easier to find a free table. All best for this restaurant.

Great appetizers of cheese, prosciutto, sliced tomatoâplus fresh bread and a plate of anchovies seemed like enough when served with homemade red wine, but then came the pekaâ filled with slow cooked lamb, potatoes and onions. Then some toasted almonds and a glass of prosec. Delicious and atmospheric.

This restaurant not only serves the most incredible fish, but is also a real experience. There was no menu. The waiter tells you what is on offer for starters. Usually muscles and prawns etc. but it depends on what they have been able to source locally and fresh. Then for main, the only option is to walk over to the stand by the kitchen with the days catch. Here, your waiter will go through the different types of fish with you and you choose what you would like. It is then weighed in front of you (charged at 430kuna, as of August 2019). For reference, our first night, the large sea bass was 1 kilo and the second night we had a smaller bass and a bream and it was 1.3. It comes with delicious fried potato slices and grilled courgette (zucchini). The fish tastes so much better than normal because it is so fresh. It has not been frozen and it has spent almost no time in the fridge. We think that they keep live fish in a net in the bay and only take it up to the restaurant in the evening. It was always cooked to perfection. On our first visit we shared a large sea bass and on the second a smaller bass and a sea bream. One day we watched the owner come back in his boat and throw a massive tuna off the boat (over 6ft), he then hoist it up into the tree outside of this restaurant and later started to carve it up to be taken up to the restaurant for an option at dinner that evening. We watched from the opposite side of the bay in amazement. We had the house wine, but I think they did offer one other type which is bottled and on display. The grappa they serve is potent! Not something I would drink for pleasure, but it does help to take the edge off for sure! Try not to breathe when you take each sip! Some tips, I do not think they would half the fish, so go with someone to share it with or go knowing that you would have to eat it all yourself. They do have some smaller fish so this should not be a problem. Best to book, most of their trade seems to be from boats which moor overnight in the bay (probably coming there because they know of the restaurants and the owners), and some nights they are full and others they are quiet. If possible, ask for a table on the terrace. Both seating areas are fine but the terrace is better. We absolutely loved it there and canât wait to return with family/friends.

Moli Onte was a true gem in Milna! Though there are several good options for Croatian fare in the quarter-mile area, Moli Onte really stood out for pure, mouth wateringly delicious cooking. After astute wine recommendations from our waiter, our long meal ended up including bruschetta, homemade truffle sauce pasta, grilled vegetables, and grilled lamb in garlic sauce. Each was a winner, though the mushroom sauce and lamb stood out. I stopped just short of shoveling the truffle sauce straight into my mouth (thank you bread) and though I wouldnât recommend the lamb to those on a low-sodium diet, it was easily the tastiest red meat we had in Southern Dalmatia; it even came with fries that successfully captured the magic of Jack-in-the-box curly fries with slightly more home-fry appeal.

Great place to eat. Lovely meals. Good service. Reasonably priced. The view is perfect. What more could you ask for? We have eaten at Fortica many times over the years and cannot fault it.

In the core of the sunny island of Hvar, in the small village of Vrisnik, there is the family run tavern Vrisnik. Its domestic ambiance and friendly humoured staff will make you wish to return each and every time again. Its blend of pleasant atmosphere an
We actually came to the restaurant two times while our vacation in Hvar. The food was simply amazing, the octopus was soft as butter and it melted in your mouth! You should deffinitly try "hobotnica ispod peke"(you must order 3 hours in advance) and "hobotnica na toc".
