Our driver and guide brought us up to this restaurant high on a hill in New Giza for supper. He said it is place for the elite of Cairo to come for meals and that was actually quite evident. The contrast between Old Giza where we were staying and New Giza where this restaurant was located was astounding and actually quite off-putting for us. I donât want to get into this in a review but I imagine most tourists will understand what I mean. Also, we had come directly from a camel/horse ride and most definitely were not dressed appropriately and a wee bit gamey smelling. But we are obviously tourists so hopefully no one minded. Fortunately, itâs outdoors so our bit of funky animal smell would not have been noticed with all the cigarette smoke. Iâm guessing our guide ordered for us or perhaps the evening we were there had a set menu. Either way, our table was soon laden with bowls and dishes full of appetizers including kofte with crispy French fries, baba ghanoush, hummus, vine leaves, several salads and a basket full of warm freshly baked Egyptian bread. We ate heartily not realizing that the generous offerings were just our starters. About the time we were feeling full, out came a perfectly char-grilled half chicken with another heaping helping of the delicious French fries. The chicken was amazing and I was far too full to eat it but I ate just about the entire serving anyway along with those yummy fries because it was so amazingly tasty. Oranges were brought for dessert and made the perfect ending. Much of the restaurant is outdoors with tables arranged on pathways lined with low-walled gardens full of beautiful plants. It was so cold and windy that evening that it wasnât very comfortable, forcing me to keep on the ratty sweatshirt Iâd worn for the horse ride, but on a warmer night, it would be such a lovely setting. Our guideâs intention was for us to enjoy a beautiful sunset, but the view was distorted somewhat by a heavy plastic wind screen. We were quite satisfied just to enjoy such a beautiful garden setting.

A tantalizing aroma of grilled meats and freshly baked bread lead you to Kebabgy, one of five top restaurants on the Promenade. Chefs use open charcoal barbeques to grill succulent cuts of lamb, chicken and more unusual meats such as pigeon. Traditional p
Was a lovely touch to see the older women (who made me think of grandmas) making the bread near the huge clay oven. Cooking the food on the grill ourselves was very entertaining. Best baba ganoush I have ever had & the bread in the fattoush was so crispy!! Plus there is lovely views of the river from the courtyard.

I've eaten here a number of times. People get hung up on pigeons, these are not the city pigeons people are familiar with. Wild & raised for food. They stuff them with rice, the lamb falls off the bone. Beware the price difference in small water & large is two (2) Egyptian pounds.

Sobhy caber is a good restaurant for families and visitors who want to try Egyptian food.I visited the new restaurant that was recently renovated, waiting for 30 minutes till getting in, from entering, till getting food it took 15..20 min. You need to order once as any extra items will take more time as they told me.The taste was excellent, staff were helpful and price was excellent compared with other Egyptian restaurants.Parking is terrible as my car got scratches.I do to recommend trying it at least once but for myself will be hard to drive from New cairo to try it again unless I'm close to.
