Today, Fran and I drove to Gasport, New York (along the Erie Canal) and had lunch at THE BEST BBQ place in upstate NY. I had a half rack of ribs that exceeded all my expectations - taste, presentation and cooked exactly like I love them (falling off the bone). My wife had 1/2 pound of pulled pork on a roll. Moist, tasty and overall Fantastic. The owner, J.J., makes his own sauces. I really liked the sweet sauce (he told me that honey was a major ingredient), but Fran enjoyed a mixture of his hot and Carolina sauces. They all are hand made. Bad Ash BBQ is also a food truck; but I would rather come right to the restaurant. Today seemed like a family affair with a niece on the cash register/waitress and others who are related. JJ has a lot of pride in his food. The corn bread s the best in the area (I think we got it just after being baked) and the fries were also good (I wonder if he cuts his own potatoes?). As for cost - I suggest he under charges at the restaurant. In Buffalo I would have been charged 25 to 33 percent more for this fantastic meal.. For some reason we did not expect to see a great BBQ place in Lockport.The building is a little unasuming, but once inside,it had a nice comfortable feel with a welcoming little bar,great bbq smell and fast service. My burnt ends bbq sandwich was very good as was the Cole slaw. My wife liked her picken bbq sandwich, which was a combination of shredded pork and chicken. Our waitress was fantastic, tea sweet and we would put this place on top of our list to return to the next time we are in town. The next time I will try the beef on weck.

Great little neighborhood pub. Good food, good service, reasonable prices. My hubby had a very good beef on weck and I had an excellent Italian sausage hoagy. I'm told fish fry on Friday is really good.
