The city is centrally located within the county and has been home of the University of Arkansas since the institution's founding in 1871. Fayetteville is on the outskirts of the Boston Mountains, deep within the Ozarks. Known as Washington until 1829, the city was named after Fayetteville, Tennessee, from which many of the settlers had come. It was incorporated on November 3, 1836 and was rechartered in 1867. The four-county Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area is ranked 105th in terms of population in the United States with 463,204 in 2010 according to the United States Census Bureau. The city had a population of 73,580 at the 2010 Census. At 1,400 feet of elevation, it is also one of the highest major US cities between the western Great Plains and the Appalachian Mountains.

Penguin Eds is one of the longest term Restaurants in Fayetteville. The reason is that the food is good and consistent with a reasonable price. Good Variety Of meats. Be sure and try the cookies for desert! Can be crowded depending on the time and location. Especially in game day football or other sports!

I was a little worried about how the food would be, as the place looked like it could do with a good clean. I also didn't like how the single toilet door opened right into the restaurant.The food was, however, hot and tasty and didn't disappoint.We were a large group, but half had finished their meal before others got served theirs, so not ideal.

Went on the advice of a friend. Kind of a dive. Hostess was not the friendliest. Apparently you cannot order a drink at the bar and take outside on the deck with you. The hostess was a little too aggressive with her enforcement of the rule. We almost left. Itâs called a rib house and we sampled them and they were just okay. The steaks are really good. Filet was prepared well. And flavorful. It was over 40 bucks for an 8 ounce steak. Side salad and potatoes were just okay. Wait staff was awesome and made up for the very crabby hostess. Was about a 30 minute wait on a Friday night. Not too bad

I no longer live in Fayetteville, but I miss Penguin Edâs. Itâs the only restaurant that Iâve ever found that has smoked wings and they are seriously to die for. I love this place

Sassy's Barbecue and Grille is the second location in the Sassy's family. The first being Sassy's Red House on College in Fayetteville, Ar. We have the same menu as the original and strive to provide the same level of service and food quality.

Sassy's is a really good place to go if you want barbecue but there's a lot more to the menu than just barbecue. There;s a lot of variety on this menu and many dishes you won't see anywhere else. The focus of the menu is on barbecue in as many different ways as you can prepare it {beef, pork, chicken, turkey, smoked sausage} in sandwiches, salads, potatoes, quesadillas and nachos. They also have burgers, wings, catfish, wraps and more sandwiches. Everything we tried was good and we'll definitely be back when we're in Fayetteville.

This is our go to place. Their ribs are so good and last night my husband had the 1/2 chicken and it just fell off the bone. My kids love the beef sandwiches. The cookies are a must.

Number one... Sassyâs has a wonderful porch for gathering! And the pulled pork nachos are always a hit. They offer lots of daily drink specials. And happy hour may extend beyond the printed hours... ask your server. The food is consistently good. The outside atmosphere canât be beat (well actually we all decided that the new porch chairs are not comfortable. We suspect only slim 20-somethingâs tested the chairs.) And itâs an easy place to meet for happy hour + dinner.
