I was on a business trip this week and had a taste for BBQ. Considered going to Bob "who" but found Scruggs and I'm so glad I did. I had the rib plate which comes with 2 sides. The ribs were moist, tasted great, and with the perfect amount of sauce. I had the turnip greens with mac and cheese as sides along with cornbread. Meal was more than enough. Service was excellent so....Catch me heading to Scruggs next time I'm in town.

Stopped in for lunch today. Had pork plate with fries, okra (instead of slaw) and beans. Includes a buttered & grilled sandwich bun for bread and, today, free "peach cobbler"!Let me begin by saying that everyone has their own tastes in food... but personally I didn't think the pork was very tasty. It did not that that smoky, well seasoned BBQ flavor I enjoy. It tasted more like a baked pork chop with sauce to me. Not inedible by any means, just "meh"... Could have been an off day, your opinion may differ. The fries and okra were quite good, both well seasoned and prepared. The beans, while good, weren't mind blowing. They swam in a thick red sauce.Everything seemed hot and freshly prepared, and the portions were better than average. Not more than I could eat, but certainly more than I cared for.The "peach cobbler" struck me as almost a pudding with peaches and pastry in it. But let's be realistic... the worst peach cobbler I've ever had was pretty damn tasty and this was better than that! It was free, I ate it and I wasn't sorry.Value for money is quite good so close to the interstate and you shoukdn't leave hungry.

I've had barbeque from all over the country and Smokey's ranks up near the top. Defintely the best we've had in Alabama. We are in area several times a year and will be back to Smokey's

Passed this place on our way down AL24, and decided to stop. We have our favorites, as most southerners do, but I had heard of whitt's. I ordered the chicken, and my hubs ordered the ribs. Each plate comes with 3 sides; I got potato salad, beans, and a corn salad, something I'd never tried nor seen in a BBQ restaurant. Ronnie got Cole slaw, chips and beans. Let me say, I have never had more tender chicken. It fell off the bone. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone; they did have more fat than hubs would have liked, but still very tasty. The rib sauce was excellent! They also have a white sauce (thin, but nice and vinegary) and a red sauce. The coleslaw is a vinegar type, tart and sweet. I'm not a vinegar slaw person, but if I was, this would be good. The corn salad was really tasty; corn, green onion, tomato, and some kind of white dressing. I enjoyed it. The menu carries a variety of typical BBQ fare, with prices averaging 7.00 for a plate. There isn't much to speak of in the way of ambience. You don't take your prom date here, but you do take your fishing buddies! Two thumbs up for Whitt's BBQ.

Stopped into this hidden little gem based on TripAdvisor recommendation and very glad I did. The service staff is exceptional and the food was ... phenomenal. The smoked wings are whole wings - all three parts - and they're the best smoked wings I've ever eaten. B.B. Perrin's has moved to the top of my list for out-of-the-way places to stop if you're passing through.

We were seated and left unattended for 15 minutes despite being one of four tables with at least 3 servers standing around. Once a waitress (Lisa) came and took our drink order, it took another 10 minutes for her to deliver them. This theme continues throughout our experience. My sonâs food had hair in it, and my food was cold. There were dead flies in our booth. I got so tired of waiting for a check, that I walked up to the register without one to pay. Maybe theyâre nice to locals?? I donât know. Definitely not worth stopping at.

We enjoyed our lunch. The service was fast and friendly. My catfish sandwich was very good. Husbands rib sandwich was good. Our only complaint was the sides are in tiny cups that seemed a bit skimpy. The skillet corn is spicy. I wasn't expecting that to be spicy.Hey Floridagirl,We really appreciate you guys stopping in to dine with us. We also appreciate you giving us some feedback. The corn can have a little heat at times. Not all jalapenos are created equally but we'll try to keep an eye on it in the future. Hope to see you guys again soon!
