Asiago (Italian: [aˈzjaːɡo]; Cimbrian: Slege, German: Schlägen [ˈʃlɛːɡn̩]) is the name of both a major Italian PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) cheese and a minor township (population roughly 6,500) in the surrounding plateau region (the Altopiano di Asiago or Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, Asiago plateau) in the Province of Vicenza in the Veneto region of Northeastern Italy. It is near the border between the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regions in the foothills of the Alps, and about equidistant (60 km) from the major cities of Trento to the west and Vicenza to the south. The Asiago region is the origin of Asiago cheese. The town was the site of a major battle between Austrian and Italian forces on the Alpine Front of World War I. It is a major ski resort destination as well as the site of the Astrophysical Observatory of Asiago, operated by the University of Padua.

... For kids but also for adults. What a lovely surprise . This restaurant is a hidden gem lost in the middle of nowhere in the woods . Perfect for further exploration in the area. Here besides food you find a place well maintained and organised for all kind of activities targeting kids and babies.Besides the outstanding scenery there's also a restaurant and its food. The venue is typical of the area and the food is well cooked , pasta mostly home made and their meet is pretty tasty.Pretty good the "grigliata di carne" with polenta "and their melted cheese. I had a Cimbra beer to go with and it was a nice surprise. No matter how big is the place , everything seems clean and tidy. The personnel , young and good looking, was fast and competent .What else to say? No much but just try to book well in advance of you think to come here at pick hours during weekends and bank holidays ... Especially if it's a sunny day.Just a note: the parking lot being a mess , mug and water everywhere , but that's due to the fact you are approaching the wilderness .Nice CiaoEpi
