Visited with friends, place was highly recommended. It was crowded, but we didnât mind to wait, or so we thought. Unfortunately, our server, an older blonde woman, was very sarcastic & downright rude. She took orders for half of our party & ignored the rest until she was asked to take the rest of the orders. Some of us ordered drinks but had to ask 4 times for them, and when she brought them, she sat them down rather hastily, causing a splash. Our food came out in the same manner. Half of us received cold food, one ordered a steak sandwich that was so fatty it couldnât be eaten. The owner offered to replace it, but the offer was declined. Now, for the good stuff ... order the beer cheese. It was by far the most delicious anywhere!

My Wife and I continued our eating adventures on this Saturday at Halls on the River. A wonderful drive followed by delicious food. It is worth the drive from Lexington or Winchester.I had their ribeye steak with greens and baked potato. Cooked Medium well the Ribeye was very tasty. The greens were more than just greens. It was combined with bacon which made it a tasty addition. My Wife had the fried chicken with Belgian Waffles. She also had sweet potato fries. Again very tasty. Lastly we had their beer cheese. Very tasty! Then the deserts were to overdose on. She had the brownie with ice cream. I had the Chocolate Cheese Cake. This hidden gem is a must. Be safe traveling the country roads to find this wonderful piece of Kentucky!

The Engine House Deli+Pub was opened in June 2015. The location is the site of Winchester's original fire house which is evident in the beautiful arched glass window which acted as the garage where horse-drawn, water tank carriages were pulled in and out.
Feels like an OLD bar, No ambiance, writing on the walls. We went with friends on a Saturday night and the TVs were too loud, the menu is very limited, The pizza is OK. The servers were friendly. The bright spot was they did have some good local craft beers. I would suggest if you go try lunch or treat it like a sports bar.

We actually had an above average dinner here, considerably better than many non-chain places we visited during our nearly 10 day road trip. I had the basic grilled chicken breast with steamed broccoli and I really must say, the one here was just as good as the one in Ballwin, Missouri, which means it was actually really good, better than what you would likely pay way more for at most other restaurants. Although really basic, the grilled chicken breast was juicy, tasty, perfectly cooked, a nice portion and just overall a better serving of chicken than you would get at all but the most fancy and expensive restaurants. It was really good. And the broccoli was likewise considerably above average--I don't know who their supplier is, but the broccoli was simply really really good and that means it was really fresh. I recently had broccoli from a local supermarket here in St. Louis and the Applebee's broccoli was way better. The broccoli here was better than at most restaurants charging twice as much. Decor wise this was your typical Applebee's so atmosphere is average. But the service was friendly and efficient and better than at many non-chain places. We really enjoyed our meal here and even though I didn't have any, I couldn't help but notice the amazingly low beer prices so value is really strong here, especially on adult beverages. So, I'm giving this 4 well deserved stars.

Recently made our third trip to the Waterfront in past 2 months. The restaurant owner is the chief also. His chief skills are improving. Hamburgers are awesome. Typical River food for this area. Deep fried banana peppers with cocktail sauce or beer flavored cheese is good. The locals rave about the pizza and wings. There are nightly specials on the menu as well for the adult beverages. You are likely to run into old "river rat" friends if you have lived in the neighborhood for more that 35 years. Yes the quarry is near by, but they stop the machines by 6pm. The view of the river is limited due to the trees, but then again there is that quarry issue.
