Reviews on Bar food in Wichita, Kansas, United States. Dorothy clicked her heels to return to Kansas, and you'll want to do the same after you've visited this one-time cattle town turned modern, booming city, where the spirit of the Old West lives on. To get a feel of the early pioneer days, visit the recreated village at the Old Cowtown Museum. For a slightly more eccentric experience, visit the Museum of Ancient Treasures, which has everything from a baseball signed by Joe DiMaggio to a shrunken head. The Indian Center Museum features works by Plains Indian artists. Wichita is an aircraft manufacturing center, and the Kansas Aviation Museum honors pioneers in the field, as well as housing model planes. Exploration Place gives kids more insights into aviation and other scientific wonders. For nature and wildlife, check out Botanica's lovely gardens or head over to the Sedgwick County Zoo, home to over 350 species of animals. Wichita stays up when the sun goes down: there's nightlife, culture, karaoke and cuisine for all tastes.

With reservations for eight, we went anticipating to be delighted, based on the good reviews and the very interesting menu that we perused online. We were seated inside the old refurbished warehouse. The decor was interesting and quaint and the place wasn't busy. Right off the bat we were put off by our server who was condescending, loud and obnoxious. We all decided to have a (pricey!) drink before dinner. Drinks were not delivered to the correct people, we sorted that out.Two people had appetizers and they were quite good. It was downhill from there. Our food arrived at varying times, and half of us had a good start on our meals before the other food arrived. On the third round, everyone else was about done, burgers finally came without fries and we were told that there was some kind of an issue with Idaho (hahaha potatoes), so another delay. We commenced with our disjointed meal and there were several complaints around our table. Several thought the food was too salty. The 3 (cold) brisket "tacos" were very small, about two bites worth and with a side of beans made it definitely overpriced, as we all felt most of the items were, especially considering the portion sizes. The Banh Mi sandwiches were just okay, bread-y, and light on the (again, salty) meat. The $16 Serenity Steak Smash burger was very salty, had a couple of carmelized onion strings on it, some relish that made it soggy, and if there was the advertised lettuce on it, I didn't notice. We finally got our french fries about 10 minutes later and we were finished with what we wanted of our burgers by then. The fries (homemade or frozen?) were lukewarm and mealy, and had probably set under the warmer too long, not edible, but most of us were kind of "over it" anyway. There were no apologies from our still obnoxious server, who seemed miffed that we had the audacity to complain. We rounded up a manager who came to our table to listen to our complaints. Our food was comped, but the bar bill and auto-gratuity (which I would have removed, but my husband didn't) was still high, considering their price for drinks. Oh, and our bills were mixed up, like the drinks, so we had to sort that out. It's too bad, because Public has a good reputation for unique food and atmosphere. I went out to check the courtyard out and it really is lovely. It would have been nice to sit outside. We couldn't on this lovely night as we were told there was no seating for 8, not true, there was plenty of seating out there when we arrived. We won't be going back, that's for sure.

BJ's Restaurant and Restaurant in Wichita, KS
Went in for dinner and having not been before, were not really sure what to expect. They have an outstanding selection of beers including their own creations and plenty of local brews as well. They happened to be out of the beer I ordered, but the waitress brought out a sample of a different beer for me to try that was similar to what I had ordered so that I could see if it would be a suitable substitute. Service was really good and the food we had was all tasty and well prepared. The menu is extensive, almost to the point of overwhelming. On the plus side, there is truly something for everyone. We did face a couple of glitches during our meal. The nachos my bf ordered were sent out with the wrong toppings. Given that our entrees arrived almost simultaneously with out appetizers, we ended up just sending them back and had them taken off our bill. The timing of our food coming out was too fast paced, as my salad came out before the apps, and our entrees were delivered to the table within minutes of that. It made for a crowded table, but also meant that my entree was not very warm by the time I could get around to eating it. That being said, the food was all very good. Would likely visit again

I stopped by here for lunch before continuing on to Oklahoma. I have not eaten here before, and they had three locations. I was at this location for lunch. The place is clean, modern looking and included outdoor patio. One orders the food up front and then given a number and sit where ever you want. I opted for the bar, since it was a high top seating. The drinks ordered (I had water) was poured at the bar area. I have to admit, it looks like a full bar, with fresh ingredients (rosemary, mint, basil, fresh fruit, even a place to add "smoke" to a cocktail. If I was staying in Wichita over night, I might have tried their cocktail menu. I order the falafel bowl, under $10. Bowl is a misnomer, it came on a platter and it was huge. I could have split this with another person. The dish came with my choice of salad, I went with Tabbouleh, hot side of eggplant, hummus and both traditional pita and crunchy pita. Interesting that the dish came with fork and spoon but not a knife. I mention this because the eggplant pieces were large and could have used to one to cut it. It was soft enough to use the fork to cut it, but a knife would have been appreciated. Otherwise, all the flavors were there and it was a good stop. Thanks for visiting us while traveling through, Carol! We enjoy providing our guests with delicious food and a wide variety of menu items to please everyone's taste buds. We're glad you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you next time you're in Wichita!

Small brewpub in North West Wichita. Featuring high-quality hand crafted beers as well as artisan pizzas from a 700 degree wood-fired oven.
Everybody raved about how good the pizza is here, and yes itâs really good, itâs different, itâs not the best I had and is not the best pizza in Wichita, but is better than Pizza Hut.In this particular occasion, I order 3 pizzas, one of them pizza Margarita, when the food was brought to me, the pizza margarita was missing the fresh basil. I asked my server about it and her reply was: ...â I donât like basilâ... I didnât ask if she liked basil, I couldnât care less if she did or not, I asked her to find out why my pizza had no basil, I had to request to see a manager, who in turn found out they had run out of the ingredient, so he apologized and gave me a gift card for a free appetizer for next time.Kids donât belong in customer service jobs, they are immature and inexperienced. They need training, but I find hard to believe that training is going to make them care.

This place is awesome! STRONG burger game, but don't sleep on the fries! Had to try the truffle fries AND the fries tossed in duck-fat. Dipping sauces are in-house and super delicious. Our waitress, Lauren, was a darling. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Wichita!

Ran over to grab a local brew & lunch. Staff was engaging & attentive. Let me try two beer choices before deciding. Ordered the Mac & fried chicken but it was tasteless. Fish & chips not much better but we enjoyed the brews. Fun surprise...the bathroom sinks!

I had the all you can eat ribs. The first batch was awesome. The beans were some of the best Iâve ever had. But the second plate of ribs was odd. They had a ham texture to them. They were not very good. I didnât even finish them. Thank you very much for your review. The ribs, or any of our foods, should always be consistent. If that problem ever arises again, please don't hesitate to send them back for different ones.Thank you again,Coleman

I came across this gem while looking for houses in the College Hill area of Wichita. From one direction, you can't even tell there is a restaurant in the building, so it almost didn't catch my eye. Once I saw it, I felt a good vibe and decided I would come back for a late lunch and check it out. Boy, am I glad I did.The hostess was not overly welcoming, but she may have been new or shy. I ate at a booth in the bar area and was served by the bartender who was fantastic with both her menu recommendations and providing just the right amount of attention for me, not too much and not too little. I tried the pretzel bits for an appetizer, a burger for the main course, and the brownie sundae and all were absolutely fantastic. The dessert and the fries that came with the burger were each enough to feed a table of 3 or 4, so perhaps consider that when you order sides and dessert.I'm looking forward to returning in two weeks when my wife and daughter come in for the house hunting!
