Reviews on Bar food in Varenna, Lombardy, Italy. Varenna is a slow-paced destination—most visitors come here to relax by the lake. But even if "Working on my tan" is the #1 thing on your itinerary, take some time to explore the area. There’s the Castello di Vizio, a medieval fortress surrounded by an olive grove. And you’ll want to view the old, tiered gardens at the Villa Cipressi—they stretch all the way down to the water. Finally, visit the source of the Fiumelatte, a peculiar river—it’s only 250 m long and disappears from October to March.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious brunch here a few times during our stay in Varenna. While the inside of the bar/restaurant is so comfortable, outside seating is also a nice option. The owners/hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful in every way, including serving great coffee, drinks, and food. Definitely worth a visit whether awaiting a ferry or walking the promenade from the piazza.

Birreria Con ampia selezione di birre artigianali italiane ed internazionali. Cucina rivolta alle specialità del territorio italiano, e locale.
Good range of local craft and international beers. Friendly helpful staff. Allow you to taste before buying. Offer a tasting menu. Provide suggestions for food to accompany different beers. Indoor and outdoor seating. We went back a couple of times.

Surprise to enjoy a great lunch of melon and prosciutto and probably the best thin crust pizza so far on our trip to Lake Como. Great place to watch the lake ferries come in and out and see the mountains with the sun setting behind us. Could even see the castle above Varenna that we hiked up to yesterday.

Have just spent a great week on Lake Como at Hotel Cadenabbia where the rooms were comfortable and the food was of a high standard. The roof terrace was delightful and the recently refurbished pool and facilities were excellent. The Riviera representative named Elizabeth with lots of other names, who comes from Chile did a sterling job throughout the week, nothing was too much for her and she supplied us with useful information on a daily basis. One of Elizabeth's recommendations was that we all visit Bar Victoria on the Tuesday night to listen to The Italian Stallion a local singer. What a great night that turned out to be in a very quirky establishment with the local owner and his friendly bar maids one from Hartlepool one from Doncaster and one from Como a night to remember with classic Italian style opera and assorted standards followed by a good old sing song encouraging audience participation. The drink flowed and a good time was had by all highly recommended if you're ever passing just call in for a very friendly welcome.

Modern, informal cafe up in Varenna centre overlooking a piazza. Had excellent sandwiches- the bresaola, soft cheese, oil and pepper piadina was particularly good. Drinks served well. Service could have been friendlier.

Great location to people and lake watch, gets very busy so you can expect a wait at times, nice menu options, the beer's are cold though!

We had lunch here, and found the food to be served barely warm, without much flavour, and that the service was poor - not enough staff. Nilus does have a childrenâs menu, which is welcome (many in Varenna do not) but the childrenâs savoury crepe was horrendous - in a sour, creamy goo. The gnocchi off of the specials was the best thing we ordered. Our advice - avoid: tutti frutti just down the hill is far far better.

Very busy as none of the neighbouring cafes were open - 0900.Basic food. Service not particularly friendly and 25% surcharge on credit cards for orders under 25⬠- but a magnificent view.Oh, and the WiFi didnât work.
