First let it be known if you are travelling to Cuba you should not expect speedy service. However, at privately run restaurants and paladars this is usually different and you get much better service. Unfortunately, it was not the case here. We had to wait ages just to give our drinks orders, which at this time everyone was ready to order their food. The other thing about Cuba is that there seems to be menu rationing and here again was no exception. We had to share two menus between four people.I ordered the chicken with cheese. However, I received the chicken with garlic. Far too much garlic was used and as I didn't fancy chicken in garlic I couldn't eat much. I waited to tell the server my order was wrong but the service is so poor that the whole time I had my food there was no contact with the waitress. I was hungry and had waited long enough to eat. So I ate the salad and a little of my incorrect chicken order. When the waitress finally arrived to collect the plates we explained the chicken was not what I'd ordered. There were no apologies just an offer to get me another meal. After waiting so long for the first and eating the salad I declined, especially as I felt the quality was not very good. This is where in most other parts of the world there would be an offer to refund your dish, but not cuba. I had to pay the price of a chicken dish for basically a salad with two bites of chicken. Part way through the night I woke and without going into too much detail I spent the rest in the toilet. My thoughts were unhygienic cooking conditions. Perhaps the chef had not washed his/her hands after using the toilet. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please take this advice on board unless you want to spend your night on the toilet with a bowl rather than sleeping and unable to eat anything the next day. There are much nicer and cheaper paladars with great service a few houses up from rio. Unfortunately I can't remember the names. Sir we are very sorry for the bad experience that you have to endure in our business. We are astonished about it, is the first time that we get such a bad customer review or critics. If you could please identify the day and time that you go to our place we will take immediate action so it will never happen again and if you ever found yourself in Varadero be sure that the full amount of your account will be refunded. That being said our local and staff hygiene is impeccable you are welcome to visit our kitchen and meet our Chef to confirm it we have all the licences to confirm it.We are having trouble identifying when was that you went to the place because no one else have had a case of food poisoning so maybe you were allergic to the garlic, as you said in your review you were the only in your group to have had that problem. That being said we are to serve and will no hesitate to emend the wrongs that may be maid by our staff.

We stopped here because it's one of the few places we could get a cappuccino. It had lots of parkings places and it looked very nice

Another hidden gem! Stopped by after a long walk on the beach. What a find! Modern. Clean. Inexpensive. Great atmosphere and service. Where can you get 50 cent shots of Havana Club? 2 cuc for a beer. Great selection. Next time we'll try the tower!

This was the closest to a fine dining experience we found in Cuba in terms of service at least, the food was certianly above average, but not excellent, but the waiting staff were attentive and courteous. We visited the house earlier in the day for the price of 2cuc and stopped off in the roof bar for a drink. Unfortunately the roof was being renovated whilst we were there meaning that the windows were blocked by scaffolding, but nonetheless the view is spectacular.

The bar was closed when we passed by but it was nice to view the building from the outside with Beatles memorabilia adorning the walls. I must admit I thought the statues weren't 'spot on' but you could work out who was who.
