An extensive menu at The Bull Inn features British and international dishes, and a wide range of vegetarian, gluten and dairy free dishes, all using fresh and seasonal ingredients. Splendid suppers include classics like steak and venison pie and fillets o
23rd September 2019 - lunch for 4. We wanted a typical "bar" meal, and so all went for the Fullers Foundation beer battered haddock, triple cooked chips, and mushy peas. Just delicious. The fish was obviously fresh and both the fish and the chips cooked perfectly. Ir was just what we wanted. Nice wine by the glass. Lovely pub with masses of exposed timber. Efficient and friendly service. All in all just perfect for our needs on th e day. Highly recommended.Thank-you for your great 5 star review and lovely feedback, we are really pleased you enjoyed your typical "bar" meal with us. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards, Molly

The Elephant & Castle is a charming pub on the edge of Hurst village, just a few miles from Reading. It is fast becoming a pub that is at the heart of village life and the warm, welcoming atmosphere reaches the neighbouring villages in Berkshire and beyon
We go to the Elephant every other month for a meal. Portion sizes are large and great value. We love that they cater for vegetarians. My daughter loves the haloumi. Iâve worked my way through the menu and the only disappointment so far was the strawberries and cream. Very small portion.Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are glad you enjoy the food and options available to you. Also, thank you for the comment about the strawberries and cream and we are sorry you felt it was small. It has noted and taken on board.Thank you

We went midweek and it was very quiet. There was a welcome log fire and we had the table by the window. There is a good menu, including lighter snacks. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food was served promptly and was delicious.

The Green Man is a exquisitely interesting pub. Far from your boring single room with a bar slapped in the middle, the Green Man is a great mixture of open areas and quieter spots. It makes the whole experience more interesting. The bar is quite small but is well stocked with a good selection of beers. There is also an outdoor bar which is brilliant when you are in the garden and donât want to walk all the way through the pub. The food menu is full of treats. Where else would you get mutton faggots? There are also local sausages on the menu as well as a selection of pizzas. Sadly this is not my local but if it were then Iâd be frequenting it.

Living locally, this great little pub has been my go to for years. The new owners have bought a fantastic new lease of life and it feels much more comfortable and welcoming now! The owners and staff are very friendly and always happy to listen and help, they have a good selection of beers, ales and wines and the home cooked food is fantastic. They put on an amazing Sunday roast and occasionally manage a barbecue (when the weather permits!). The inside of the pub has been redecorated and is much lighter and more welcoming and they have a lovely enclosed garden with lots of room for children and dogs! Would definitely recommend a visit!!

A charming old country pub and restaurant with great food, fine wine, real ale and a warm welcome. Finalist for Berks and Bucks Pub of the year 2013. Locally owned and run as a free house serving a mix of modern English dishes, hearty classics and weekly
Visited with extended family for Saturday evening meal and from arrival to departure had a wonderful time. Service from host Olly was exceptional. Always on hand to answer questions and keep an eye on the service levels from the staff. Food was excellent not just the steaks which you would expect here but the fish was also very good. Wine list adequate and reasonably priced. Would recommend and will be back soon.

I believe the Castle Inn has been under new management for about the last six months and is gaining a strong local reputation for its restaurant.
Just had a Burger this time. Burger fine, home made, but served on a slate.I know that is the modern way of doing things this way but the food goes all over the place.Decent bottle of Spanish Wine.

Just moved into Twyford, we were very pleased to discover this place! We've been several times already and always had great quality food, with original dishes and quality ingredients. Beer is great and wine selection too. Personnel is very kind and polite. I'm amazed this place is not n° 1 in Twyford, can't think of any other place to eat better in the area, especially when you are not looking for another simple burger or typical pub food. Can't recommend enough and we will certainly be coming very often.

Due to its popularity on T.A. we decided it would be best if we reserved a table at this roadside pub/restaurant. There was ample parking space and a pretty walk from there to the entrance. The interior is spacious with several linked areas. Tables are generously spaced apart. There are interesting artefacts on ledges, shelves and on the walls. In the centre of the largest area is a long and impressive bar.Having been greeted on entering we were shown to our table and menus delivered. Throughout our visit we were well looked after by a series of different staff, all friendly and efficient. The menu choice was large, much of it homemade and nicely split between meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. We did have quite a wait for our main courses but was worth it as the food we ate was delicious. Lamb shoulder for me and steak and ale pie for my partner, followed by salted caramel cheesecake with chocolate ice cream for dessert. All in all it was a lovely meal in a smart and well managed establishment with excellent staff.
