Things to do in Telc

Not many choices in off-season on the Square. Picked this place based on recommendation of our hotel. We had the chicken burritos, chicken quesadilla, a burger, and supreme nachos. Nachos were hot and spicy! Good try. The burrito and quesadilla were good. Burger came out undercooked and with items that were not listed on the English menu. They were very gracious and took it off our bill since my 10 yo no longer wanted it. The portions were good size and we could have shared 3 entrees. Nice change from standard Czech fare.

Below average, we had 4 courses and the only one which was bit satisfying was the "svickova", typical representant of Czech cuisine. The rest, salad with goat cheese, soup, and Ceasar salad were very sloppy and very poor. The prices are comparable to top restaurants, but this one is very very far away. Service was O. K.
Craft czech beer from local minibreweries and craft cider, freshly roasted coffee prepared by trend standards. High quality tea is also available. For light lunch you can have fresh crepes or galletes and selection of desserts.
In September, we spent two nights in Telc while on bike tour of area Both evenings started at the Taberna where I was treated to the driest, crispest (like the tart crunch of perfect apple), most delicious apple cider that I have ever enjoyed and my partner had a local beer. The tavern owner makes the cider himself and it is not to be missed. Loved the small outdoor seating with a view of the square and loved the young people who frequented the taberna. Warm atmosphere, friendly people, beautiful town.

Wow! Can't believe that we actually rowed against the negative flow...Cerneho Orla is part of the hotel of the same name, in the center of the Stare Mesto, and was very quiet on our last night in Telc. Our mature waitress was very friendly and helpful with a fair knowledge of English, which made the ordering our meal pretty unstressful. We chose the roast medallions of veal and the Hunter's venison pot, accompanied by a fresh green salad, and washed down with a glass of house white and a lager beer. All in all, a satisfying, traditional meal and certainly not deserving of the exaggerated criticism from many other reviewers. Perhaps we were lucky to visit on a quiet evening...
