Historic Big Bear is alive at the Captain's Anchorage----complete with a ghost named George. The restaurant has been a tradition in Big Bear since 1946. Originally called the Sportsman's Tavern, the Captain's Anchorage has enjoyed visits by Hollywood celeb
We were a party of 5 and were able to seat immediately. Food was good and service was a little slow but okay. I didn't give it 5 stars because it didn't WOW me but was decent. We had 2 kids with us and they offered a kids meal so that helped.

Big Bear's latest and greatest restaurant! Come and enjoy some delicious food from an extensive, versatile menu, craft cocktails, craft beers, 17 taps, over 100 whiskeys, a great wine selection and all of your favorite sports events on over 10 flat screen
Oakside Restaurant & Bar is a beautifully appointed venue in Big Bear Lake Village. Housed in a large alpine chalet type building with two floors and ample outdoor seating this place has it all. Great ambiance and tasteful decor that is elegant but casual, which speaks to the kicked back nature of Big Bear. There is an impressive bar and wine selection and a menu that will cater to everyone, ranging from basics like burgers and pizzas to nicely prepared entrees. I had the Hawaiian Monchong fish dish which was as good as any I've had on the actual Hawaiian Islands. The service was thoughtful and attentive without being hurried or artificial. I would consider this establishment one of the best in the area. Go see for yourself.

Murray's Saloon & Eatery has been serving the community of Big Bear Lake for over 20 years, and is a local's favorite. Murray's is famous for its Karaoke (7 nights a week) where you can find individuals from all walks of life (locals, bikers, skiers, hike
We love the vibe at Murray's and ended up going twice for a meal and drinks. The bartender (forgot his name ;-( ) was great! He worked the entire bar by himself and the service was excellent. Both meals were delicious! Dinner: We loved the chicken wings (try the BBQ hot sauce) and enjoyed their beef tacos. A glass of wine was $6.00 and the glass was filled to the brim.Next day Lunch: I had the Jalapenó burger which was to die for and my husband had the chicken burger that was a real piece of chicken (not a pre-made patty). I enjoyed a yummy Gin Bloody Mary with their custom mix...nice & spicy. We were so full and satisfied that we skipped dinner that day. Do yourself a favor and stop by Murray's.

This place was A-OK for sure! They did make a few errors with my order, but were VERY quick to correct it, and it ended up being delicious! My wife enjoyed hers as well. The ambiance isn't bad, but not great. The biggest place where they need to improve is there kids meals. Carbs and more carbs is pretty much the only option. Like do you want a $9 grilled cheese with fries or veggies? The veggies are literally carrot and celery sticks and the celery sticks were with all the leaves on, like you're supposed to eat those... If that's your kids meal... that should be 4.99 at most. Other than that, this felt like a very "a-okay" place... but when on vacation (and for the check), there are far better big bear options.

My wife and I love eating Mexican Food. The restaurant was clean and our service was prompt. They have a salsa bar where you can select different salsas. The food tasted good.

We went here because friends said they had good food, live music, and our dogs could be on the patio. Well, the dogs had to go back to the car, the music ended at 8pm not long after we arrived, and while the carbonara was excellent and the presentation of every dish was fabulous, the other dishes were so-so or not to our liking. Decent wine list and one member of our party really enjoyed the cocktail eh ordered -- mango mojito. I'd say come for drinks and maybe appetizers or dessert, enjoy the fireplaces, and check when eh music ends.

Was here recently (in Moonridge) for a crafting weekend and we decided to venture out one night for a yummy dinner. We headed over to Black Diamond Tavern because some of the girls we were traveling with had remembered it fondly. We were NOT disappointed!! From the super juicy burgers (half pound!) to the chicken salad, we were all impressed with the quality of food they offered. Also, kudos to any kitchen staff who can actually make a medium rare burger these days, you'd be surprised even after asking staff "Can they REALLY make it medium rare" and being told "Yes!" so many fail....you won't have that problem here, my burger was perfectly cooked and so juicy and flavorful. I was very impressed and happy to get it.All their food was yummy and the staff did their best to make sure our large party was happy and full!Had a little blip while were were there, I misplaced my keys in the ladies room and we went wild looking for them when finally one of the great staff members found them (someone had JUST turned them in!) and once again, we were on our way. Thank you, Black Diamond Tavern!! We will be back!! <3

Sugarloaf local I have been going to Kallans once a week for a month so I could write my review.Service and food are not consistent. Its basically a "crap shoot" on how your food be and the service you get depending on who's in the kitchen and which waitress is working. Watch your bill and count your change. My $8.26 bill came back without change. I was told they didn't have change but the waitress would make up for it the next time I came in. Can you believe a restaurant doesn't have change, give me a break.Week 1: Wednesday, happy hour - wings. food good and service ok Friday Fish & Chips - also good decent serviceWeek 2: Wednesday, Wings OK, but terrible service. Music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself talk. Several tables commented about the music but nothing was done.Saturday, brought my family for burgers. The burgers were bad but the fries were awful! the fries were stuck together in a big mess and everyone ended up with the runs. My family said never again.Week 3: Saturday, Neighbor and I ordered Fish & Chips, this time the order contained less fish, when we commented that there should be four in the order we were told, "Oh these are bigger so you got less" yet the table next to us had the same order, with the same size portion, but got all four. That night the service was awful. Too many customers and not enough help on the floor or in the kitchen.Week 4: Wednesday Wings, the Garlic/Parmesan didn't have any garlic and the cheese wasn't graded, simply some pieces of cheese placed on the wings. This was waitress who didn't have any change
