Extremely CASUAL eatery with horseshoe pits for the locals in the back outside patio. The baby back ribs were tough. dry, and did not taste fresh. One of our group liked the Brisket sandwich and the cold beer! I hope that we just hit a bad weekend uncrowded night which did not explain the LONG wait to be served.Hello, thank you for taking the time to write this review. I'm so disappointed to hear about your experience last weekend. I was not at the restaurant on Saturday night so going off your comments I am not in a position to say what happened. I will say however that our BBQ, especially our baby back ribs, pork , and brisket are usually an excellent product. Please do stop by again and give us another try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. And, by the way, the backyard area with horseshoes, badminton, volleyball and corn hole is not just for locals! All are welcome. Thank you again.

My husband and I went to the Hourglass mid-week for lunch. We were the only ones there, and the waiter was friendly and attentive. The view on the patio is phenomenal...the ski slopes are just beautiful in summer. And the hamburgers are excellent. That's saying something since I almost never think a hamburger is better than what I make at home...but this one was. And the fries were perfect...just a bit crispy on the outside and served hot. We also had shrimp tacos which were...hmmm...just okay. Nevertheless, we would go back if we could. They have a firepit on the patio with chairs around it. Our waiter said they would light it in the evening if we asked.

3 of us sat at the bar for a quick bite at lunchtime. We ordered 2 Bloody Mary's. Looking at the menu, they were supposed to come with bacon. No bacon. Tried to get the bartenders attention, but she disappeared so we didn't get around to it. Were then served part of our meals. Waited about 5 minutes for the rest - nothing. So I questioned the bartender, who realized she didn't put that part of the meal in, so she did it then, and said it would be out shortly. Waited and waitied - asked her to check. SHe checked and said the item was taken by another food runner, and that it would be right out. We asked her to stamp our brewery cards. SHe took them, but then didn't return them. I didn't realize until I was 5 minutes down the road that she hadn't returned them. I went back - she had them behind the bar (still hadn't stamped them!!). The worst part: NEVER an apology. Patience goes a lot further when someone apologises for mistakes. Since she didn't: here's the lousy review. Salad we ordered was good. So were the wings.

We stayed in a friends’ house nearby and she’d recommended the GMI.We visited three times during our 10 day stay. We both had different meals each time and were never disappointed. Plentiful tasty food served with a friendly smile. Service was good. The restaurant was always busy so that they fitted us in without reservation was good. My friend had said have their turkey dinner. We did. Excellent. Great tasting turkey and plenty of it.The restaurant looks a bit dated given some of the nearby opposition but it delivers.Thank you so much for coming to see us on multiple occasions during your trip to Stowe! I appreciate your very nice remarks about our staff and I'm happy to hear that the food was excellent on each visit. Hopefully, we will be able to see you back again on a future occasion!Patti ClarkGeneral Manager

We are a new restaurant in Stowe, Vermont. Our focus is on a dining experience that is Vermont, comfortable, affordable and fun. Rustic bar & grill featuring wood-fired pizzas, American comfort food & lots of draft beer.

We arrived a little after 5pm and were able to be seated and served quickly. However, by 6-6:39, the restaurant was very busy. We ordered macaroni, scallops and a kids burger. If we went back, getting something like a pizza may be been a better option since wood fired food was their specialty. The food was fine, the scallops were wood fired, but nothing particularly memorable and the food seemed a little spendy for what it was. However, our server and service was great.

Wife and I had lunch here. The site is beautiful and the building is very impressive with massive timbers. Wife had Helles beer and I had Pilsner, neither special. She said cheese soup very good as were dumplings and salted radishes interesting. I ordered the sausage and cheese appitizer, but got the three Worst sausages plate. Not bad, but wouldn't order it again. It's not inexpensive, our bill was a bit over $60. Service was good. We'll probably come back for a second try.Thank you for coming to the Bierhall. We work to keep our prices fair. Our beers are very authentic Austrian style lagers, while they are not quite as flavor forward as DIPA's in the long run lagers will win the day for easy drinking session style beers.

Based on the reviews we ordered a large pizza to share. It was excellent and the leftover pizza was tasty for breakfast! My Dad ordered the chicken parm and it was huge! He really enjoyed it. The waitstaff was very friendly. We went at an off time and were immediately seated. I imagine during dinner this place is hard to get in. I would highly recommend this place and hope to return.

Many great recipes for "standard" fare - must try mac & cheese; fantastic 1/2 chicken meal; the best cucumber salad (we could drink that incredible Asian sesame dressing). Also, a great selection of craft brews. We noticed that it is one of the places where the locals go - friendly atmosphere with great service. We will be back.
