My Wife and I go to the Charnley Arms regular on a Thursday and really enjoy the Food, Staff and the place itself. We find it quite a relaxing place, service from the staff, in our opinion is excellent, very friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. The food is always hot and tasty, they have a lot of different food choices to order. You will not find anything cheaper in the Standish area, very good value for the money. Drinks are good and very reasonable prices. This time I wanted Fish, chips and peas, I asked if i could have Gravy with my meal, asked the staff, no problem and got it at no extra charge, hows that for service. We both really enjoyed our sweet, delicious. Talking to the young Assistant Manger, Fred, what a really nice guy and wish him all the success in his career with the company. Thanks to all the staff for your Friendly Service every time we come here. CheersHi Terry W!Firstly thank-you for a fantastic review, we're so glad that our efforts as a team don't go without notice and appreciation! Tex/Mex restaurant and a cocktail bar in the middle of lively Wigan town centre. We offer to you an exciting and delicious range of fresh homemade food from Mexico and Texas. From homemade nachos to 20 hour smoked ribs. We will accommodate your every need
Booked a table for 6 via open table and this simply hadnât gone through to the venue and it seemed like they were confused by this.A table was found for us which was big enough and comfortable. The waitress was very polite and there were menus on the table, along for some reason with some cheap sombrero hats to remind us we are in a Mexican themed restaurant. This adds nothing. The starters were to share and the plate of £10 nachos wasnât really worth that money, Iâve been to many places where £10 buys you man more nachos. The meat platter starter was acceptable and everyone got a good share of meat. Unknown why there were two British bread rolls on the Mexican platter. For my main meal I didnât fancy anything Mexican themed and spicy so open for a rib eye steak, unfortunately they didnât have any of this and therefore I then swapped for the sirloin and upgraded to surf and turf. When this arrived it looked great. The enjoyment of my particular meal ended there. Having ordered the steak blue this meat was clearly medium or medium rare at the best. The meat was relatively tasty but very dry, no juice of any sort cane out of the meat. The prawns were small and again over cooked to be reminiscent of small rubber washers with some caramelisation. The fries were ok but went cold quickly. The benefits I found were that someone at some point had purchased in some really nice steak from a good butcher. For £20 I can go and buy my own steak and cook it to my liking. Eating here also meant I didnât have to stack my own dishwasher at home but beyond this thereâs little of merit.Poor rating as actually the company was good and we had a relative enjoyable experience and the beer isnât too pricey.

We happened to be driving through the area and decided to try . So glad we did ! The waiter was so friendly and attentive. We had various starters from duck pate to the black pudding. We all really enjoyed it . Two of us had the curry which was excellent! Non of that chain food you often find with bars . Another had the burger and another had the stuffed chicken . We all cleared the plates ! Highly recommend this place ! A great choice on the menu and you get excellent portions . If anyone is rating this place as terrible they seriously need to get a life ! I would recommend this place to everyone and will certainly go back again and again . Cheers guys ! You do a first class jobThank you so much for your kind feedback! See you again soon!

Went for a family meal on a Sunday evening. All four of us really enjoyed our meals. We had cock and bull, rump steak and chicken burgers. Empty plates all round. Good homemade chips and very tasty onion rings. One of many good meals we've had at the foresters.

Albert's Standish is a stunning restaurant and bar which also has a private dining room and 2 private event spaces. The restaurant space can accommodate dining for 200 guests and a fabulous covered and heated outside dining terrace perfect for alfresco di
So disappointed, how we didn't walk out without paying amazes me...just dreadful. The best thing they could would be to shut the doors and re-train from the top down and start again. We are regulars at Albers Shed in Manchester so were really looking forward to trying Standish, won't be rushing back.Starters subsituted for alternatives without consulation (tomato soup instead of carrot and corriander/sea food risotto instead of squid-no consultaion, jut brought to the table without explaination.1 hot starter served stone cold and inedible, replaced after considerable wait well after others had finished.Mains served lukeward at best and had obviously been standing for some time.Totally unprepared and under trained staff (who did their best) who were left "hung out to dry" to sort things out.Happless management.Very noisy. No apology received other than from the poor waitress, nothing from management. No offer of recompence, not even a coffee by way of apology. No reply to email sent to management after the event.Left us just wanting to leave ASAP, mind blowingly AWFUL...AVOIDWe are disappointed to read this review, we never wish any guest to leave the restaurant unhappy. Please would you mind sending me an email to [email protected] so that we can investigate into what happened. Please would you mind also including what name the booking was under, the date and time of the booking.

Enjoy the Houghwood experience in a perfect setting, overlooking the beautiful North West Countryside. With a modern British menu on offer, together with traditional Sunday Lunch. The first floor restaurant with its great food, friendly staff, magnificent
Very pleasant surroundings with beautiful views as far as the river Mersey. Brunch in the Spikes Bar was okay but the menu has been much reduced including the disappearance of the scrumptious turkey and cranberry sandwiches. No festive afternoon teas being served this year also a disappointment. Hopefully the new year will see a review of the menu. Also £2.25 for a small bottle of Coca Cola is rather excessive.
