Looked on Satnav for a restaurant when all restaurants around cinema had problems. What a quirky place. Saturday night and it was quiet but we were not sure if we were in a pub, restaurant or curiosity shop! We were met by a gentleman that seemed to be running the whole place on his own - and very well too! We ordered the Ardennes pate with home made chutney which was lovely. My husband had the rump steak which was perfect for him - we were told it is cooked in the oven! I had the scampi - and there were lots of it. Not sure if I would be happy taking children there as sign said you must pay for breakages. Lots of funny items to buy. Overall we loved it and will definitely visit again.

A charming 16th century riverside bar & restaurant where you can enjoy picturesque views of the Great Ouse. Traditional bar, riverside view restaurant and riverside seating with an outside bar. Major refurbishment march 2013
Came for a wedding anniversary meal, chosen because they serve gluten free food! Parking across the road was full, so had to walk a lot further, still free after 6.00pm. Good food, dedicated gluten free desserts, very helpful and friendly staff. Good position near the river. Will be returning.

The Royal Oak is a beautiful and welcoming 17-Century thatched pub at the heart of the Cambridgeshire village of Hail Weston. We offer a wide range of drinks, a regularly changing lunch and evening menu, childrenâs meals and Sunday roasts. All food cooked
Nice looking pub. Staff very ordinary and food very average. Waited 15 minutes for a menu and when finally got to the front of the queue at the bar I ordered two childrenâs fish an chips. Barman said this was not on the menu. Pointed out breaded cod an chips! Our ploughmanâs came without cutlery or plates. What kind of a place is this! Avoid.Hi DavidWe're delighted you liked the look of The Royal Oak - it was something of a labour of love by the entire village to get the place refurbed and reopened two years ago. We are sorry though that you were kept waiting for a menu although these are always available from the table in the corner of the bar as well so that people can pick one up and browse at their leisure too. We don't usually bring plates with the ploughman's as it is on a large board and people tend to prefer to use this for sharing. However, we are always happy to bring these for people if they say they would prefer them. We are very proud of our team and I know they will be disappointed to know you weren't delighted with your experience.

Having seen great reviews we booked for Motherâs Day lunch and we were not disappointed. We all had roast and we all couldnât move afterwards. Very generous portions of meat, the veg was perfectly cooked but the highlight was the gravy. Honestly the gravy was divine. Huge portions, leaving no room for dessert. One of the best Roasts we have had out. Service was great too.

An independent village pub and restaurant focusing on great British food combined with an Asian twist. Relaxed atmosphere and good selection of wine. Please note we close in the afternoon between 3pm and 6pm and do not serve food on a Sunday evening. Newl
First time we have eaten here since the new operators took over. Great friendly welcome from the staff. Good menu, plus a sensible specials menu. We started with lobster tail with aioli, and girolles, both excellent. Main courses were top cap steak, and chicken with beetroot gnocchi filled with goats cheese - all from the specials menu. Well presented dishes and all perfectly cooked - what more can you ask of a restaurant ? Highly recommend.
