we enjoyed two types of mussels with toutons. service was good. The waiter's recommendation for Jiggs mussels was spot on. We hesitated because we didn't love the Jiggs dinner we'd had somewhere else, but as a sauce on mussels, it was realllly good.

Great local and Irish fare with great service. Live music nightly featuring the best of Newfounland folk and Irish musicians. Owned by D'Arcy Broderick, formerly of Irish Descendents and Fables bands.
The beer is cold, the food is decent. Came in twice as this is a good place to come in for a drink and listen to some great live music. However came in for wings and was pretty disappointed. Very fatty wings, almost slimy. Quantity was good, sauce was good, but the wings themselves... not so good. I was however intrigued by the irish breakfast but didnt have time to try it. Maybe next time.

Unfortunately the four orders of food we had were horrible, and service was slow. They ruined fish and chips, as everything was soaked in grease and tasted off. The burger was awful, and the two fish tacos were different from each other with an odd flavor. All four of us felt ill afterwards. Had we just gone for a beer, the atmosphere would have been enjoyable, but DO NOT EAT HERE! There are so many great restaurant options in the area, and this is NOT one of them. Expensive for the exceptionally disappointing food.Hi, I'm Cheyenne, a manager at The Celtic Hearth. Our Floor Manager, Larry Weisman would very much like to hear more about your visit and try to correct this situation. If you could call him at (709) 728-3519 we would greatly appreciate it.Thank you, Cheyenne

What an awesome place. Great food, great service. We landed here 10 minutes before last orders and the folks were great. The mussels were fabulous - both the curry and the white wine. The fresh coffee was blackened to perfection. The scallops were so good, our more picky friend left the plate totally clean. I wish we'd had room for dessert! Thanks so much to this great team.

Not one to write bad reviews but very disappointed with the quality of food from this Irish Pub. The cod fish batter was saturated with grease and the chips were no better. O Reilly's is known for their live music which was good but the cuisine and their unfriendly staff needs some attention.

My Wife and I went here for dinner and I was surprised that we had to wait for a table as it was 6:45 PM on a Wednesday night. We did eventually get a table with a great view of the Coast Guard facility. I ordered a Caesar and my Wife had a glass of wine. I ordered an 8 oz top sirloin with a baked potato and my Wife ordered the 6 oz top sirloin with a twice baked potatoe. The service was good and the bill was $87.41 definitely more than the Vancouver Keg.

Attended with a group. It took over 2 hours for food to arrive which was very very slow. When I asked to speak to the manager it took over 20 minutes for the manager to come to the table. Instead of being apologetic about the service and asking what they could do for us the manager was very defensive. Said "We have had a very challenging night in the kitchen serving over 200 customers". IMO If you don't have the capacity to serve the tables then you need to reduce the number of tables. Two members of our group didn't eat their meal as it was not really edible. Incredibly disappointing experience for a restaurant that had come highly recommended. I won't eat here again. Overall the experience and level of service and attention to the customer was not what I expected or have experience elsewhere in Newfoundland.

Three St. John's natives advised us that this was "the" place for fish and chips downtown. It was! The fish was offered two ways and the portions were large. As an alternative, I had the turkey wrap, which was stuffed with lean white meat. The fries were some of the best I've ever eaten! They have a great selection of craft beers, of which I heartily recommend the Cappuccino Stout. The servers were friendly and attentive. But do note: it's not a huge place, and it does fill up quickly.
