This brewery/restaurant was highly recommended by the park ranger at La Mauricie National Park. There was a line when we arrived. The place was very popular. When we spoke to the hostess who was very cheery and friendly, she told us that they don't have an English menu, but our server could help us. We were seated in the smaller room. Our server came by our table and said he'll be right back. Then, he returned and blatantly ignored us while he served other French-speaking guests that were seated after us. We had so much time while we waited that we used our phone to translate the menu and finally flagged him down to order. He went over the menu with us at that point. My partner got the burger, and I got the pork shank. The pork was much better than the burger, which was dry. We did ask another server for ketchup. Their ketchup was very good and not like any ketchup I've had. When we left, the hostess who first greeted us was very nice and said goodbye. I wished she was our server for the night as we would've had a much better experience. We've traveled around Quebec province for about a week by then, and that was the first and only time during our trip in which we felt unwelcomed for speaking English and not knowing French.Hi, we are very sorry to hear about your bad experience. This is the first time in 12 years that a client tells us that he felt unwelcome and we will do everything to ensure that will be the last one! It's hard for us to keep both English and french beer menu up to date, due to our very large variety of beer, which are always rotating on tap. Waiters and waitress are suppose to be able to explain in English to our clients. We will manage, in the next few days, a way to solve this problem, by giving extra knowledge in the English beer presentation. We are about to launch the English version of our website that will include all our beer descriptions. We already have free wifi and we will propose a tablet for people who don't have a smartphone or a tablet. We will also ensure that our staff will be able to serve people from other languages, as well as our native speaking languages clients. We will teach our staff, to be more conscious to prioritize in serving our clients as they sit down for the first time in the restaurant.I hope that your next visit will show you our involvement in helping English clients having a better experience and a better support in choosing the right beer.Cheers!

While staying in Parc national de la Mauricie in Quebec north of Trois Rivieries we went into have dinner at Bistro Le P'tit Canot. The first evening we sat out on the front porch and enjoyed what I would call French country fare. As the sun set the mosquitoes arrived and decided we would be their dinner. I wished we'd brought some repellent but hadn't expected them as it was August. On our second visit we chose to sit inside. On both visits our servers was happy to accept our very basic attempts to order in French including being patient with the children. Even though it was busy both nights our food was served within a reasonable time and was fresh and tasty. The desserts were yummy too.

I ordered the Poutine Cunard (duck) and found it very salty to my taste. My companions had burgers, a salad they raved about and Traditional Poutine. Service was friendly and all their plates were cleaned.

Most of the food is cooked there with original and tasty recipes. Only disappointment in this type of a place, not finishing off, in this case, serving bland, run of the mill, frozen fries... At a minimum 15$ per person, for bistro food to about 30$ per plate for more specialty items, I'd wish they would've gone the last step and make everything from scratch. Still a solid place to eat, the food was very good, served hot, service was excellent and the end bill had no surprises. We were a party of four and ordered three different dishes which all showed up at the same time. Burger was great, fish and chips was pretty awesome, the blood sausage tasty and well cooked... Yeah we sampled around the table! Appetizers of onion rings was very flavourful too!
