We were traveling thru the area and stopped at this pub. Parking is a bit tight as you need to find a vacant spot on the street. But the Pub oozes old world charm. Very friendly and helpful staff, good food, great beer. And we happened to visit during one of their trivia nights. Not just any trivia, this was very high octane trivia. So fun to be a part of.

Marin's new supper club - Reviving the local scene. Serving up American cuisine with a Creole twist. Fenix is an acoustically designed restaurant in downtown San Rafael, CA. The space, carefully crafted to showcase local and national talent, is an ideal d
Ten dollars to see a good jazz/funk singer. I like that.Problem was that the lady who apparently owns the place decided to talk for the first 25 minutes about what a wonderful and visionary person she is. Maybe this was for the benefit of the employees of her marketing firm who seemed to be having their Christmas party there and represented about half the audience.Okay, self-congratulatory speech over, the band started playing in this multi-million dollar space (according to the speech) and the sound was all mush. We were sitting fifteen feet from the singer and couldn't hear her. Okay, maybe it was a bad mix. Or, maybe it was the obnoxious table of marketing employees who couldn't have cared less about the music and were laughing and screaming right under the singer's nose.Add to that the waiter who didn't know what a martini was, and the dreadful drink that showed up at the table, and well...maybe it was just a bad night. A real bad night.

I always meet colleagues here for a quick and easy dinner before our annual evening meetings. Service is friendly and often a bit slow, but the Mexican food is great, the chips and salsa are great, and the margaritas are really good.

BJ's in San Rafael is located a two-minute drive from where I live, so it becomes a choice when we want to stay close and have a moderately-priced meal. It is a family-friendly sports bar/restaurant - huge, high-ceilinged - that is actually pretty attractive. The warm dim lighting is nice. Knowing that it is a chain restaurant should adjust your expectations. The menu is vast (indicating much of it comes from the freezer), but they have paid attention to having many healthy choices, and there are often new items. They have a number of vegetarian items, and they are happy to modify entrees to make them so. They are, of course, known for their large selection of beers, but they serve some good wines as well, and on Tuesday night it is half-price. As may be expected, the staff turns over a lot and the dining experience will be affected by the host/hostess and server. I have only had a few off experiences, though, in the course of many visits.

Was visiting the town and dropped by for appetizers and check out their selection of regional brews. The place has fun atmosphere, foods were average, the staff were hospitable and the drinks were ok.

Had a group lunch (about 18 persons). The Reuben Sandwich had sauerkraut loaded on each side of the bread and two slices of corned beef in the middle. Also served cold. A massive basket of bread was placed in the center of the table, and a few bowls of butter. No bread plates provided. The 18 of us had to pass ONE basket of bread and those who took a slice had to use the table cloth to put the bread on. Very disappointing. The service was curt, borderline rude. I would like to patronize this spot, but when I dine out I want to feel taken care of, not as if I am a bother to the server.

The portions were small and the prices were expensive. The fish and chips should have come with coleslaw, and more than 2 pieces of fish. The house salad was under dressed. My daughter really enjoyed her caesar salad. There is no soup/salad combo. The fries were nice and crispy. My husband said his spicy chicken sandwich was ok. Mediocre at best. Our first and last visit. This is the view from outside of the restaurant. The water is littered with plastic, cigarette butts, recycling, sports equipment, and litter. This is NOT what you want to see before entering. This is shameful of the entire area.

I have been here many times. The food is consistently great. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and they have a cozy outside deck with plants (a banana tree) and colorful mosaics. The service is excellent and the chef/owner Bill is a really great guy and always welcoming. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I highly recommend it.

To date, I have found Terrapin Crossroads to be the best live music venue in Marin. Adding to that, it also has fabulous food in the restaurant area, with great service. The restaurant has both upstairs and downstairs dining. Go upstairs if you prefer just to eat and donât want to see the live bands, or alternately, sit downstairs and enjoy the food and see the musicians in action. If you donât want food, just hang out in the bar area, which serves a multitude of cocktails, and watch the live bands. If you want a truely great live, yet fairly intimate, music experience, you can get tickets for the âspecialâ artists and bands that perform at Terrapin. Google their site to check upcoming gigs. We recently saw the legendary Colin Hay (ex lead singer and song writer for the Aussie band Men At Work.....famous for âI live in land Down Under...â, amongst many others. I am an Aussie ex-pat living in Marin County. Seeing Colin Hay and his totally awesome and talented band in such an intimate venue, was definitely very special. Brunch, minus the music, is also a fab option. Indoor or outdoor dining. Plenty of parking onsite, with complimentary (free) valet parking service. What more could you ask for? Enjoy
