We were driving through San Clemente and found this restaurant on tripadvisor.com. We love family style Italian restaurants so we decided we'd stop in for dinner.First off, service was excellent. A college age young man served us and he was responsive throughout the meal. There were 4 of us and we ordered a large meat lover's pizza, and pasta with clam sauce. We were immediately brought delicious bread, which impressed me given 3 of our group was eating pizza. It took about 20 minutes to bring the food, which is reasonable for pizza. The pasta came loaded with small pieces of clam, and unfortunately the pasta was swimming in oil. I moved the pasta out of the oil, and enjoyed the flavors of the clam sauce. My husband wasn't impressed with the pizza---it was somewhat lacking in flavor. The pizza didn't have a lot of sauce, and there wasn't a lot of cheese, and what cheese there was isn't stringy. The meat didn't have a lot of flavor. The pizza has potential, it just needs either top notch cheese, or more sauce with flavorful meat. The bill for 4 of us was about $40, which is reasonable for 4 people to eat. The atmosphere is somewhat puzzling. The tables are set for a romantic dinner, there is a bustling bar as if for a bar scene, and then there are TVs everywhere. The TVs had sports events, to include wrestling. Not sure we will be back, as there are too many other restaurants to try out in the area rather than return to a restaurant that is good, but not memorable.

We were seated at the tables next to the bar... we first had some belgian beers and a mix of starters (excellent mix of croquettes) and the atmosphere was amazing.. we are indeed in a restaurant, but we feel the "bistro" ambiance !Then we had the meatballs and curry mussels, we shared everything with my wife .. the fries were very good too (i highly recommend the samouraï sauce to go with the french fries, belgian frites like the Chef said :)) Next time we'll go go the bar with some friends.. seems to be great too.. there was a nice birthday celebration with all staff... pretty cool!

The high-end, modestly priced food, wine and craft beer has attracted a huge fan base. Every age, every background was there last night when we stopped by for their incredible wings and a salad after a day outdoors. There were toddlers, teens, couples on a dinner date and well dressed seniors, all enjoying the food and service.

My husband and I brought family here on a Saturday night. We made reservations via their app a few hours ahead. When we told the hostess that we had a reservation she told me that we did not. She then said, âDo you know your name?â I said yes of course I do. I gave her our name that the reservation was under and she said there was none. My husband got out his phone with the reservation confirmation and she did not say sorry or act like it was her mistake. She said,â Well, I can sit you in the backâ. We took the table even though it was next to a large party. Our meal was good. We ordered 2 wines, 1 beer, and ice tea. The tea had hardly any ice so we had to ask for more, we had to ask for silverware a few times. The server brought one glass of wine the my hubbyâs 15 min later. We ordered an appetizer to split and no plates were given. The menu for the beer has no prices on it which I donât care for but the server had no idea the price of any of the beerâs. Not very good service. I loved my first meal here a few months earlier for breakfast. Not sure if we will return. Too many places with good service and a friendly hostess. Parris, I want to personally apologize for the mix up on the reservation and service issue you had Saturday night. I would like to address it so we can provide you the optimal experience you deserve in the future. I will make the general manager aware and would like to hear your experience personally. Thank you for your patronage.

We came upon Pierside after a beautiful hike along the San Clemente Beach Trail. We had our dog and the patio is dog friendly which was awesome. We were greeted right away and we ordered the bottomless mimosas to start (Wycliff Brut) and the staff was great at keeping our glasses full at all times. We ordered off the brunch menu and I went with the fried chicken and waffles and it was delicious, not to mention the waffle was the best ever. My wife ordered the steak and eggs which was cooked to perfection and topped with a chimichurri. Pierside has a full bar and a great beer selection. The service was fantastic and I wished I remembered our servers name because she was very attentive, friendly and genuine. She was blonde and had tattoos... great ambassador for the restaurant! Thank you Pierside, we'll be back.

We had a great lunch at Hapa J's. The food is so good and so Hawaiian style. We use to live in Hawaii and we enjoyed eating our favorite Hawaiian foods. We will definitely return for another delicious lunch at Hapa J's. Mahalo for the great food and service.

Had the shrimp and lobster tacos which were absolutely amazing. Loved the spicy sauce on them. My brother had a tasty chicken sandwich and I ate half his fries because they were so crispy and yummy. Sat outside on the patio, which was nice.Service was nice enough, but not on top of things. We waited for beverage refills and plates to be cleared as we watched our server chatting with someone at the bar. We finally had to go ask for our check.

We stopped at the Cellar bar/restaurant for lunch based on a tip our daughter received from a friend. The tip was good as this is a cool place for a cozy, comfortable meal. I enjoyed the Cubano sandwich and wife and daughter split a big salad. We also ordered a cheeseboard which was delicious and a flight of four craft beers in shot glasses. I'm not normally a beer drinker, but again, we were on vacation, so it's ok to go a little wild. I surprised myself by thoroughly enjoying the coffee stout and the blood orange. The other two beer samples were ok but nothing special. You never know what you're going to get because the beer selections are totally up to the bartender, so you get a different flavor every time you order the beers. A cool place with nighttime entertainment. Check it out if you happen to be in the area.
