Kirby Grove is an old-fashioned pub in a quiet suburb of Turin, Italy. It offers standard Italian cuisine -- pastas, pizzas, salads and some typical âsecondosâ, i.e., main courses. We enjoyed a nice dinner there this evening on the advice of our hotel. The pub was full of locals, the food was traditional standard Italian fare, and it was excellent. Kirby Grove offers a wide variety of local and foreign beers, many on top, is an excellent place for conversation despite the crowds, and has wonderful home-made deserts, including fruit. The portions are generous and not expensive. Service was friendly but a little slow.

(last visit 8/2011)I was an old customer of "il Bisogno" since the old place smaller and nearer the Rivoli Center.I was really fond of the "green beer" (that is a mix of beer and blue vodka, if I guessed correctly). It's halfway between pub and restaurant.Waitresses are now very busy and so they cannot help you so much and in fact you hjave to fill yourself the order list using the numbers on the menu.Food quality is average to good (before was better).Drink quality is still good (as before).Drink quantity.... mmmmmm.... (before was better)The amusing thing of the old site was that they served the drinks inside "chamber pots"...in three different sizes "1/4 di bisogno" (=S), "1/2 bisogno" (=M) e "1 bisogno" (=L).On the new site the chamber pots are swapped for something more similar to a drink bowl that mantains the same name.A place to go once to drink using "bisogno"... now NOT worth a return.there are a lot of places with higher quality and better service.

I'm not really fond of hamburger, but as this is a certified gluten free slow-fast-food, we tried it (half family is coeliac). And we found a meat-eater paradise! The hamburgers (all the types) are excellent, just don't think about Mac!, is completely a different experience. Here you eat real meat! and the chips come from the planet of wonderful chips!

My friends booked a table for 8:30 and all 9 of us arrived right on time. We were kept standing at the entrance, with waiters pushing us to make their way through, until 9:30. We were told that our table had been given to a party half an hour late for their booking and they were still there. When we finally sat down, it took forever to take our order, which by the way the customers write down themselves. As usual when I'm in Italy, I ordered a pizza with ingredients that I can't find at home, so imagine the disappointment when all the orders came and instead of my pizza there was a calzone with ham and mozzarella. I was told that they just got it wrong and if I wanted another one I had to wait. So I kept it. It was greasy and not particularly tasty and both my husband and I couldn't sleep all night from the thirst those pizzas left us with. On top of this, the place is really loud and messy, all big parties with screaming children, which really isn't my thing. And it wasn't cheap either by Rivoli's standards.Never again.
