The Kings Head is a traditional village pub in Gunnerside in Swaledale North Yorkshire. We offer a good selection of real ales and excellent freshly cooked meals.
Busy on a Bank Holiday Sunday evening, yet the service is still snappy and smiley. Our curry and scampi constituted good, wholesome food served in generous portions - the Kingâs Head does not claim to be a gastropub, thank goodness. The cellar is well kept, and the cheery bar staff are tolerant of dogs and children - and as we saw for ourselves this evening, they grit their teeth and get on with the job even when dealing with curt holidaymakers.

Called into the pub after a beautiful day in the dales, staff were really friendly and there was a good atmosphere in the pub. The home made food was delicious and good value. The steak was cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a visit againThank you for writing us such a lovely review, we really do hope to see you again soon. Claire and Em

The 18th Century Charles Bathurst Inn in Arkengarthdale, or The CB Inn, as it is affectionately called, nestles in some of the Yorkshire Dales most spectacular scenery. In 2013, the Charles Bathurst Inn was awarded an AA Rosette for its fine food, ales an
First visit was for lunch after a morningâs walk in Arkengarthdale â ready welcome â drink and food ordered at the bar â excellent Theakston â a reward to the weary walker â both had baguettes â mine hot bacon and blue cheese â my wife Wensleydale cheese with onion chutney â both much appreciated â good chips â salad on side â a little over-dressed for some â lunch was so good we went back the next day for dinnerâ¦.Dinner was a good as lunch â I had the bacon âchopâ with a fried egg and grilled tomatoes â hot to the table and very satisfying - my wife the seafood linguine â jam packed with seafood â a winner in her book Despite many visits to Reeth we havenât ventured up Arkengarthdale for dinner but after these experiences we will return â Thank you

Sadly not impressed at all. As per another review the vegetarian options are shockingly lacking and expensive. I too had the wellington which was underwhelming and honestly, tiny. It was nothing like what the name suggests, a small smudge of mash with one (yes one very small) mushroom, a slice of goats cheese and a finger sized piece of puff pastry on the top. No veg or chips with it that's it for £13.00.Another party member had the mushroom stroganoff which was also very small - being that the dish is only made of veg you'd think there would be a generous portion given the price, sadly not the case. We ended up having to order extra chips just to fill us up. Really disappointed as had very high hopes for the place - it used to be brilliant!

This is a country pub in the Yorkshire Dales. It has a couple of rooms in the bar and then again two rooms upstairs for the restaurant.
I have known about this pub for years but never had a meal. We went here tonight via a gift for christmas. I wish now that we had gone before as the food was great.I started with the Baked goat cheese with fig and salad, my good lady had the black pudding stack. Both were really tasty ( we do try each others food ) and portions are of a good size.We then moved on to our main course of Kleftico which was a really good portion of slow cooked lamb with vegtables and potatoes. A really good meal and perfectly cooked. Finished with a couple of Latte.Loved it so much that we booked straight after the meal for another table next month.

Located within some of the most breathtaking scenery in Yorkshire, The Punch Bowl Inn, Swaledale, offers high quality accommodation, excellent facilities and a very warm welcome in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The original character of this 17th cen
We came here as a family party and were treated to excellent food and service. This is really proper restaurant food and presentation - much above what you would expect from a pub in the dales. All our party chose different menu items and all were reported as good. We were challenged to decide between starters and desserts, as we hadn't walked enough to justify both.

Set in the glorious Yorkshire Dales, The Bridge Inn is a warm and friendly Country Inn,producing good food from locally sourced produce. Serving food all day we now have a loyal customer following, serving bar food such as our evr popular Fish and Chips t
Starter and desert excellent. Main okish. Had squid for starter, tasty, moist, lovely portion. The home made ginger sponge was excellent for sweet. The main was the beef, good sized portion however, the meat was laid over a vast mound of mixed vegetables, 3 roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding completed the plate. It was a shame there wasnât any mashed potato. Service was fine.

We visited out of curiosity because we were entertained by the landlordâs responses to some of his visitors. Indeed, weâve been visiting the Dales for nearly 10 years and not visited the Kingâs Arms.As it was Halloween, the pub was very well decorated. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to do this. The landlady was a bit frosty with her reception at the bar although the young waitress was attentive, warm and friendly. We chose the Thursday steak special and the bottle of wine. First impressions were good and my steak was very nice. However, my wifeâs steak was as tough as old boots and when I tried to eat it, I gave up after several attempts. Presumably the people sitting next to us, who appeared to have organised a canine fest, already knew this as they were eating their own sandwiches (8.15pm, check CCTV).Overall, disappointing. It would also be good if the pub offers some healthy food choices.hello you know I will respond to this review as you mentioned you only came a after reading them you thought you would visit after 10 years visiting the dales glad you've taken this long to see us we've not been here that long I as requested by you looked at cctv great to see strange I only noticed that firstly the staff checked on you not once but twice first one was to see if you meal was ok secondly to clear your empty plates if there was any problem with any meals I am100% certain that frosty would be the first to ask you I also after cooking that late I do the washing up there was no plates with the so called tough steaks returned your either have been asked to put this review on or just totally born to moan also how would you even know if it was the landladyor not you've not been in here for 10 years if you come back in winter there is and will be one frosty person thats you 10 years later thanks for your review10 years to late ive seen you other reviews on other establishmentsand some you've given good reviews are discerningthey look terribleif you were not satisfied then mention it dont hide behind false lies thanks all the same see you in 10 years thanks frosty
