We had visited the two other pubs in the area and came to this one to compare. This scored better then the other two as far as we were concerned as they had a better choice of beers. More than two here and not "run of the mill" local mass produced ones.Helpfull bar person who quickly came to serve us.Good well kept beer at reasonable price. Was very busy as it was later when we arrived and we joined some others outside in the sun. There are a couple of benches here if you wish to sit down.Thankyou for your review.

We called here for an evening meal whilst on holiday. What a good choice. The food was freshly cooked and they readily provided a gluten free meal and were very knowledgeable about the ingredients. Everything was cooked fresh and was very tasty. The landlord and waitress were both very friendly and helpful. Added to this the prices were very reasonable compared to a lot of places around this area. We did not stay at the hotel as we were camping nearby.

Served quickly. Large menu but only wanted a snack . Very good baguettes, smoked salmon and prawns. Seemed to go down well with the locals. Good fire but not lit for us.Friendly place with something fo everybody. Other meals being served looked good and generous amounts.

After a long day visiting a rather soggy Stonehenge, we retreated to the cottage in a bit of a bedraggled mess. After a little Trip Advisor research we spotted this within a couple of miles of the cottage and decided to eat out for the evening. What a great call... a proper old school pub. A fantastic warm welcome and even though we hadnât booked they squeezed us in at a good table.A nice selection of standard fare beers all well kept. The food on the menu was solid traditional pub fare, nothing too fancy but a nice selection for all pallets. After a couple of good starters we moved on to the mains, would highly recommend all of the dishes we chose, the T-bone steak was both good, and plentiful and came with all of the trimmings, the mixed grill kept the father in law happy and the pudding kept the ladies happy too.Great little find and would definitely recommend. Also very good value for money with 3 courses for all and drinks coming in at just over £110

Sea Trout was lovely, steak was tough despite being the most expensive item on the menu. However, DO NOT EVEN THINK OF ORDERING THE PANNACOTTA. It was completely lacking any flavour and nowhere near the correct consistency -£7 for just a lump of tasteless jelly. If they can't make a pannacotta it should not be on the menu.

Booked here for dinner and overnight stay, it has a great location near Wells, Glastonbury and Street. The pub is lovely with reasonable prices. The highlight was dining in the train carriage, food was amazing with attentive service. A lovely welcome to this part of the world.

We ate here for two nights/two breakfasts and the choice and quality was excellent. Great to see a slightly different dinner menu each day reflecting the food in season. The breakfast choice was also good - the American style pancakes were light and fluffy. Very good indeed

Traditional country freehouse pub, serving homemade food at lunch time and evening. Family friendly and dogs are welcome!
The good reviews made me expect more. I had steak and chips; it was ok. The chips were really nice, like chip shop chips. The steak was not great. I went for the sirloin and it was very fatty and over cooked. My friends didnât really enjoy their meals; lasagne and burger. The burger looked really poor, the bun was recently defrosted and was soggy. We shared a pavlova for dessert. It was mainly cream with very little meringue.Itâs very good value for money. You get what you pay for I suppose. The service was good. The waitress was attentive and confident. HolidaysRcool, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for The Horse and Jockey on TripAdvisor. Whilst you mention that you received a good service, Iâm sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Iâve now spoken with the whole Team, we believe you were three ladies dining with us last Saturday evening? If so, neither our waitresses or bar staff have any recollection of you mentioning your concerns? We would have been more than happy to replace your steak or even discount from the bill if proved inedible. Our homemade lasagne is one of our most popular dishes, especially with our regular customers. Iâd be keen to hear why you felt the burger poor, was it just the bun? It was not defrosted. Our pavlovas are another popular choice, big enough for one, the meringue is homemade and can vary in size. Perhaps sharing was not a good option if requiring more? We rarely receive negative feedback however itâs always upsetting to hear via social media in the first instance. We work hard to ensure that our customers are enjoying their dining experience, we ask at least once shortly after the food has been served to provide customers with an opportunity to comment / criticise should they wish and for us to be given an opportunity to rectify. I also know you would have been asked again when making payment for your food, we are unable to recall any concerns relating to the meals you mention. Please do not hesitate to give me a call should you wish to discuss further 01749 840537. Many thanks, Nikki

There appears to be no water plumbed into the gentlemen's urinals! The toilets SMELL they regularly look and smell unclean and lack daily inspection the pee mats ìn each urinal do not appear sufficient. Shame really as they seem to have most things going okay
