It's a pub.
I met my lady at Petersfield as the rail workers were on strike again and she would not have been able to get back from visiting her friends. We decided to have lunch there.I am glad we did we got a very warm welcome from the landlady and had a pick of tables as it was not too busy but soon started to fill up with the lunch crowd.Be aware that the car park is only for four five cars max at a squeeze it is entered through a VERY small alley at the side of the pub.The ambiance is splendid, very olde worlde with the beams and old flooring very good and with space between the tables to have a conversation without the world hearing what you are saying. As it was lunch time we decided that we would only have a light meal so asked for nothing out of the ordinary but it must be said that it was very good when it arrived, well presented and cooked to perfection, the wine was of good quality and served as it should be for white and red.Should we be in that region again we will certainly visit this little gem in a residential area of Petersfield. One last thing there is parking in the street out front and I found it very easy to get into a space there.

The two of us called in for a quick dinner. As the name implies this pub is situated right on the central town square of Petersfield. There is an extensive menu and our food was good and came promptly. We had a small dog with us - this is a dog friendly pub. Decor and atmosphere is typical pub and with attentive, friendly but not overbearing service. Good website with menu and prices as well as lots of photos, including of their function room.It was a surprise to see that the FSA food hygiene rating after an inspection in November 2017 was a 4, one below the maximum of 5. It would be good to see that at the highest level for maximum confidence. It was interesting to see that literally EVERY Trip Advisor Review since April 2017, 22 reviews, has been responded to personally by Sophie P, the General Manager. That's great, and inspires confidence that this pub is really listening to customer feedback as a way of continual improvement. There may be more, but this is the only restaurant on Trip Advisor where I have seen this level of commitment.Hi RayPhC,Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us here at The Square Brewery. Glad you enjoyed your visit with us, we value everyones feedback whether good or constructive so we can keep thriving to do even better. We love dogs - check out our dog show that's coming up in September,we would love to have you and your pooch there. Let me explain our 4 star back in November we lost points due to structure of building and there not being an adequate changing room for kitchen team that was not addressed on a previous EHO visit. I'm happy to say after closing our kitchen for 5 days back in January, all the improvements have been made. We received a 95/100 for food hygiene and 96/100 for H&S from our company food hygiene audit a few months back. So are looking forward to achieveing that 5 for next EHO visit. See you soon,Sophie and team

We take a great deal of pride in promoting the traditional aspects of the old fashioned pub. We know you expect us to provide good quality products served with a smile, and we aspire to do just that We hold an excellent selection of quality Real Ales. Our
Running and owning a Pub is hard and very challenging...and I for one are disappointed when you see so many closing. My partner and I went with a large family group for a Birthday celebration lunch on Sunday. We had pre ordered our selections. We had a starter (whitebait) which was ok. A number of us had a mains of the roast beef. The beef was so tough you could not cut it or chew it really, and we had to get steak knives to even make an impression on the meat. Bullet like roast potatoes which probably been more of use to the clay pidgeon shooters who had a nearby meet! I couldn't really describe the Yorkshire puddings which at best were a poor imitations of even frozen ones. Puddings again pre ordered were not ready and in the end didn't make an appearance which on reflection was probably a blessing in disguise judging by the rest of the food! We did air our complaints to staff who to be fair did listen, mentioning that they were a chef down and really busy etc etc. This pub if it can't even get a basic Sunday lunch to a reasonable level which is most rural pubs bread and butter, is going to struggle. I dont know about 'The Pub With No Name' Its a 'Pub With No Future'

The Old Drum is a contemporary country pub in the centre of Petersfield. Built in the 18th Century, it is the oldest in the area and has been lovingly and painstakingly restored to keep its character and charm. Enjoy real ales and fantastic, locally sourc
Why is it that pubs don't seem to train there staff properly. Not well organised at all and when the food came it was just about edible,in spite of asking for the steaks to be rare they were not and at £25 pp I expect more.Yet again a long delay between ordering and arriving. This pub needs to wake up and shake up and train the staff properly as it is really not good enough as the standard dosn,t justify the prices.Good afternoon , my name is Maria Solovieva , I am owner of the business. I appreciate your opinion, it is true that team is new and manager needs to train staff better. But you must agree that quality of food is very high and everything we do -we do fresh! No pre -prepped food and thatâs why delays might happened ! I agree that on a busy day, service is slow but many places has the same issues . Good things takes time! This is how I see it .

Stopped here for lunch when visiting the area. I had braised beef, which was a good portion, tender and served with nice vegetables, though slightly lacking in seasoning for my taste. My wife had cod pie, which looked very nice, though her portion had only a tiny portion of cod in it, and was mainly potato, sauce and cheese topping. Service was very welcoming, and the beer was good.

The Half Moon is a lovely pub restaurant, which serves great homemade British food. There is a huge garden to sit and eat in too, and a small park for the kids to play. This pub restaurant has something for the whole family so bring them all down! The aim

While waiting for cousins walking the South Downs way we had delicious wine, Pinot and NZ Sauvignon blanc.sitting outside the Fove Bells admiring the glorious hanging baskets. The menu, typical pub grub also had a very good daily specials sheet. Two of our group had an excellent crab salad as a main course. My cousin had liver and bacon with onion gravy and mash. He said it was very good but was defeated by the large portion of liver. Mum had an excellent dish of cod in a cheese sauce and I had a delicious Scicilian cod with tomato caper and olive sauce that was too oily. All the mains came with new potatoes and lightly cooked vegetables. The noise of the coffee machine was deafening and the ladies loos left a lot to be desired with one loo out of order and no hand towels. We had a lovely meal with family and the staff were very pleasant.

Stayed here when attending a wedding locallyCharacterful pub and great staff. âLog cabinsâ are prefab with wooden cladding on the outside only. Very snug. Full of dust and fluff so cleaning poor. Bathroom ok but shower full of hair. Hospitality tray with tea and coffee but no milk. We had been allocated room 2 which adjoins another âcabinâ and as wall are paper thin was disturbed by neighbours late into the nightBreakfast ok but staff dragging cleaning materials through the dining room and noisy furniture removing whilst we were eating did spoil the experienceMeals had at the restaurant were really good Pub and food side great but the b&b service needs improvement in order to expect high end prices

Small, old fashioned country pub. According to the Lonely Planet guide to the best places to eat lunch, its in the WORLD top 500!Apart from the delicious food ( particularly the soup and my favourite - the rare beef sandwiches),delightful flower arrangements, roaring fire and friendly staff and the thoroughly engaging atmosphere, the welcome is great. There are no chips, no coffee and no children indoors - plenty of outdoor space though. The loos are in an outside building which is well heated and clean. All part of its charm!
