Second visit to the Blackhorse Swainby, first time the food was fabulous. We arrived late, 8pm on a Sunday evening and the chef was happy to still accommodate us with a fabulous meal. Went again tonight, around half 6, 1/8/19, food was stunning, perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. I had chicken in mushroom cream sauce, it was all cooked from scratch, lovely browned mushrooms and vegetables perfect texture to compliment meal. My husband had the pork Parmo. . . For the second time, as so great the first time, with double fried chips! Itâs restaurant quality in an old school traditional pub, nice, relaxed surroundings and if you havenât tried it thoroughly recommend this extremely tasty eaterie, very well priced and good sized portions to!

A warm welcoming village pub set in the small village of Knayton near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Here at the Dog and Gun we pride ourselves in home made traditional pub food as well as an extensive specials board. Fine wines and local ales also available.
We booked this as staying locally and didn't check reviews which do reflect how good the food is.It was a wonderful to enjoy fresh cooked food and there was an excellent choice. There were four of us and we all said how nice the meal was.The service was good, the welcome warm and I wish it was nearer.

We kept getting told how good The Crosby is so thought it about time we went to find out.The village itâs in is small but pretty. The Inn is on the Main Street. The staff were very welcoming and we sat at a table at the front of the pub.A very good lunch menu and thereâs a different one for the evening sitting. Lovely tempting specials on the board to which we both chose lightly battered salmon fishcakes with chips and salad. Oh my, they were delicious Lunch for 2 with drinks came to coppers over £30. Not at all expensive and freshly cooked. We will return and try dinner next time.

What a surprise that the restaurant does breakfast; not only does it it provide an excellent quality choice of breakfast goodies but they were all priced fairly reasonable. I had full English, cooked to perfection and everything on the plate you would expect. We had one hiccup with poached eggs but once we had pointed this out, the meal was taken away with no quibble and replaced a fresh. Please give it ago as itâs real value for money..Good Afternoon MichaelWWThank you for taking the time to leave us such great feedback. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your recent breakfast with us and you found we had an excellent choice and that we are reasonably priced ! We are also very pleased that you did enjoy your full English breakfast. We shall look forward to seeing you again for either breakfast or lunch/evening meal with us !Kind Regards

The Duke of Wellington re-opened as a real pub serving real food and real ale in 2010. Located in the village of Welbury, near Northallerton, the traditional pub dates back to the early 18th century. The interior has lots of features including real fires,
This has been my second time at the Duke of Wellington, and won't be my last. Great food, the most friendly of staff and very child friendly. A great setting of point for going to local attractions, but a quiet relaxed spot to return too.Good theme nights for food, and very reasonable prosed.I travel a lot with the kids, and love to find a place you can feel comfortable with the family.

As a âvillagerâ and business owner I like to support all village businesses including the Queen Catherine. Osmotherley attracts many visitors year round but especially over the Summer months and at weekends. There are customers for everyone and I love the diversity of what our pubs and cafes offer. Had steak pie last night which was really very good. Got to be able to do a good steak pie on pub menu! Some big weekends coming up including Osmotherley summer games on July 6th.

We are now in our 25th year at the Blacksmiths, we are a family owned, family run, traditional, independent free house country pub. We like to think that service, value for money and a friendly welcome go hand in hand. We are not part of some faceless cor
We have just returned from a wonderful spur of the moment tea out which we definitely chose well. A warm welcome from the girl behind the bar who attended to us immediately. We hadnât booked which was fine tonight as it wasnât too busy, so we were shown to a table straight away.Even though itâs not a small pub it was really cosy and warm, a really nice ambiance. There was a specials board boasting â2 for £20â on different dishes every tea time during the week. Tonight was steak night and my husband and son were delighted! Myself and my younger son chose the half parmos, which I must say when they arrived were of a very ample size! The steak eaters chose medium rare steaks and said they were cooked to perfection (compliments to the chef Jonnie). Chips and garnish were plentiful. The only disappointment was we were too full to enjoy a pudding, and there were some lovely homemade puddings on the menu too (next time for definite!)We are now perusing the Christmas Day menu which also looks amazing! Such a beautiful place in beautiful surroundings and extremely attentive, welcoming staff.Well done, we intend to make our way through every tea time specials which may I add even include Sunday Lunch!A proper little country gem

Gorgeous little village, one night stay only and glad to say it was at The Golden Lion. Lots of pub character downstairs, buzzing with Sunday lunchtime crowd when we arrived. Shown to our upstairs room and helped with our luggage- this does not often happen in these parts. Quite spacious, good mod cons with great rainfall shower, a pretty window overlooking the street, plenty of cupboard space, a sofa and extra large comfortable bed with quality linen. Tea/coffee etc in the room of course, but with fresh milk and delicious homemade biscuits! Dinner was very good, great staff, good value.Would recommend highly for short stay in this beautiful and quiet village.

Travelling back north on the A19, feeling hungry, we decided to visit Osmotherley, a beautiful village that could easily be in the Cotswolds for itâs character. There are three pubs within a hundred yards of each other, but Trip Advisor rated the Three Tuns the best. Good decision - very friendly service in a very clean pub with nice touches of pewter. Both the red mullet and the sea bass were delicious, with a good selection of tasty starters and desserts. And dog friendly - perfect!
