The Ferry Inn is an ancient, Seventeenth Century pub and restaurant that was the home of the ferry between the Isle-of-Oxney and the English mainland at Appledore. It is situated in the midst of beautiful countryside between Tenterden, Appledore, Stone-in
An early dinner watching the sun set from the front terrace, unbeatable spot. Unfortunately the food didn't match the view! We ordered a burger and a steak, the burger was ok, covered in a very sweet sauce and the 'wrap' doesn't really work. The steak was full of gristle and on the tough side, perhaps just unlucky but at £24.99 we expected something special. That said, we would definitely return for a drink and possibly a sandwich just for the view (garden at the back looks great too).Dear magnoliasundayThank you for your review. We apologise that you were not satisfied with your meal on this occasion. We pride ourselves on our food and would have been happy to try to rectify the situation if you had made us aware at the time. We do hope you will return so that we can ensure you have a better experience. Kindest regards The Ferry Team

A family run business serving a great selection of homemade food which is locally sourced. We have a great variety of local wines & ales. Open from 12pm every day except Monday when we are closed. However we do open on bank holidays. On the 1st Thursday o
My wife and I went for lunch today. What a lunch it was. I had topside of Beef and the wife had pork. The portions were enormous, superbly cooked and presented and well worth the £13 per meal. There were various options on the âSpecials boardâ and menu to suit all tastes. If you want good food friendly service then you will not be disappointed. It well worth a visit. However, I would suggest you starve yourself before you go or ask for a doggy bag. We will definitely return.

Eat, Drink & Stay with us at this small family run business lead by good wholesome food, fine wine and ales
We stayed within a short walk ofthe The Ship Inn and couldnât believe our luck that we had this on our doorstep. Beautiful decor, warm welcome and friendly staff. We ate here on 3 consecutive nights and enjoyed the food. A couple of options were not available but were still showing on the specials board, only reason this isnât scored higher. I would definitely return as we were made to feel very welcome, that and the very tasty duck and olive ragu! Thanks everyone at the Ship.

Popped in here around 1.30pm to see if we could get some lunch. The next serving was at 2.30pm so we decided to wait. The bar area is warm and welcoming and the staff were friendly. We were taken to our table on time for the carvery lunch. It's a very small restaurant but nice and clean and comfy. The food was fine, it was freshly cooked and nice and hot.I think it was £14.95 per person - it was Christmas lunch rather than regular Sunday lunch - which was pretty good value.I'd visit again.

We called in by chance on a Saturday lunchtime. Went for chicken and salmon salads. The salads were rather crisp and tasteless and the potato slices were on the chilly side. However good coffee and over 60s get a reduction of 20% on the food element. I have to say that the place looks recently decorated and has a conservatory and outside eating area. We were made to feel welcome and probably would go back.

Pop in to plough inn on Sunday evening for family dinner , my steak pudding was nice but my wife had chicken and ham hock pie which was below par ! , my daughter had basil pasta which again was below wot we expected ! , first pint of fullers ale not great â¹ï¸I am confused firstly pesto pasta can be nothing other than what it says pasta and pesto sauce a simple dish so I am unsure what you were expecting but apologize if you did not enjoy , your pie is one of our best sellers so again I am bemused as to why you would say nothing at the time but instead wait and post a negative review on this forum and finally your pint of Fullerâs we have only tried the fullers Oliverâs island for the first time this week it is clearly not to your taste but I have sold the entire barrel so proof is in the pudding so to speak I am the first to raise my hands if something is genuinely wrong but misconception of what a dish is is not grounds for a negative review but I do thank you for taking the time to write your review but I would rather you had said something at the time and then I could have dealt with it accordingly. Went for the first time Saturday night. Very old pub in small village. There is a snooker table right by the bar which had a noisy crowd although not the fault of the pub. Three tables ordering food but still waited three quarters of an hour before our order was taken and onother hour before it actually arrived. The food when we eventually got it was very good. All veg was fresh and pies looked home made. The meals are extremely large though so wouldnât advise having a starter. Unfortunately nobody came back to ask if we wanted desserts or coffees until we prompted them. On saying that, staff were friendly when you finally got to see them.

Spur of the min decision to go for Sunday lunch. Booked a table as heard it's always busy. Had a lovely roast beef dinner, meat was so tender to melted in your mouth. Hubbie had the steak and stilton pie which was massive, too much even for him to finish. Well worth a visit, we'll definitely come again
