Montevideo, a port city and the capital of Uruguay, is a perfect destination for travelers looking for a relaxing stroll past colonial era buildings and along beautiful beaches. The Ciudadela Gateway, the only remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the entire city, now serves as the entrance to Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's oldest neighborhood. Home to churches, museums, and theaters, at night the area comes alive with nightclubs playing Tango and Candombe music for crowds of dancers.

We went here on a public holiday as everything else was closed nearby. It was a ghost town and I was not that keen. I was pleasantly surprised. My wife enjoyed her chicken schnitzel and my spaghetti was good. Definitely 10-20% overpriced but good food and service nonetheless.

We'd wanted to try this out for some time and were pleasantly surprised to find a very attractive space at the back of this restaurant attached to the Dazzler hotel. Outside in the sun, it seemed like we'd found a great place to eat at first, until we ordered the food. My wife wanted a dish without onions but was told that was not possible. It seems everything is pre-prepared rather than made to order. The prawns we ordered were breaded and on ticks and looked as if they'd been frozen. The chicken my wife ordered tasted burnt. My steak was fresh, but nothing special. It seemed to be just a disappointing meal until the bill arrived. The price was a lot more than we expected. The reason why? They had added a 190 pesos (USD 7) per person cover charge. It's very difficult to understand how they can justify this - they served us a mini loaf of bread with the meal, but this was dry and tasteless. The waiters shuffled around and were pleasant enough, but weren't that attentive. What a waste of money! There are dozens of great restaurants in the area that will serve you much better food at lower prices. Avoid Dakota at all costs unless you like being ripped off.

Bar Americano is located on Smart Hotel's ground floor, in the intersections of Soriano and Andes St. It is a Gastro-Pub open for hotel's guests and to the public, with its own entrance on Soriano St. In Montevideo Downtown. Our goal is to provide reasona
Good pizza, quesadillas (which are made more like large empanadas), breakfast, and of course drinks at the bar. Reasonably priced, friendly service. It was a convenient restaurant for us to visit. If it's convenient for you too, it's a decent option. Dear Candace0nc, thank you very much for your comments, we are glad you enjoyed your visit to our bar and hope you come back soon. Regards from Montevideo!

Well, the place is well located in Pocitos area near the Rambla (few blocks from there). They have some crafted beers of medium quality that are really ok. Foor is kind of irregular, some 'picadas' are really good, not so the cocktails, better to avoid them. It's a bit expensive for the product they provide, but in the end it's a fine place.

Good location, huge portions and decent prices. However, the food is too much fastfood-like. Everything was either heavily fried or just greasy. The staff was friendly, but a bit forgetful- we had to ask for the same thing several times.

The tango dancers were fantastic (hence why I gave Baar Fun Fun 2 stars I stead of 1), but be warned that they only dance about 10 minutes. Otherwise the entertainment consists of a guitar/singer duet that are unmemorable (though they charge for it). The wait staff SUCKS however! Waiter I had was a total jerk (I got the impression he didn't like foreigners). He was rude, never brought the Uvita I ordered (though I asked THREE times) yet he still charged me! There are better places to see tango. I would skip this place. Menu sucks and not welcoming to non-Spanish speakers. Not impressed at all.

I really want to give Choperia Mastra five stars, but my experience with their beer has been too inconsistent. Some varieties are spot on in complexity and flavor and some are so far off I wondered if the keg or tap was mislabeled. All things considered, this is great stop if you visit the Mercado Agricola and you like to try new beer. At $5/pint, I recommend asking for a sample or only ordering a half pint to start out in case the flavor is not what you expected.

We ate here on our second of four nights in Montevideo as it was very close to our hotel and looked inviting. It is an old neighbourhood bar/bistro, very charismatic and the staff were friendly. The food was pretty good and we had a pleasant evening; I guess if we lived there we would probably frequent it now and again.Hi!!! thanks for you visit and commets about our Bar TabareRegardsGerman

I went to this charming but small restaurant/bar for brunch. The highlight was the french toast with sliced fruit and honey. It was fantastic. The service was very friendly. They do not accept credit cards. BTW it is a short walk to the National Cemetery which is worth a visit after you eat at The Candy Bar.
