Monroe (historically French: Poste-du-Ouachita) is the eighth-largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is the parish seat of Ouachita Parish. In the official 2010 census, Monroe had a population of 48,815. The municipal population declined by 8.1 percent over the past decade; it was 53,107 in the 2000 census. After a recheck in 2012, the Census Bureau changed the 2010 population from 48,815 to 49,147. Mayor Jamie Mayo, however, maintains that the Monroe population is more than 50,000 and indicated that he will pursue a continued challenge to the count.

Trio's has a unique and varied menu. It's just a little different from most restaurants in the area. There is a Greek and Mediterranean flavor to a number of the menu choices.Recently my wife and I tried out several tempting options on the menu---the Greek salad, chips and salsa (the latter had a most unique flavor), a Mediterranean salad and Crabmeat Moussaka (this dish contains lightly fried eggplant slices, diced tomato, spaghetti with cheese sauce and crabmeat). There are other menu choices such as seafood gumbo, fish tacos and spaghetti and meatballs. The environment is low key, and the soft lighting provides a very homey and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed the experience very much and would recommend this establishment for either lunch or dinner.J. My wife and I were in town for business and were looking for a great dinner. We found Fat Pelican on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try based on mostly great reviews. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. The owner took our drink orders and our waiter Zack came up immediately. Our drinks came out in minutes. Once we ordered our food came out promptly. During our meal at least three other servers checked on us. I ordered barbecue shrimp and my wife had the catfish poboy. These were over the top great. The shrimp did not come with bread but Zack brought us toasted bread quickly when we asked for it. There was a live singer who was very good but not too loud. The restaurant was organized to not be crowded or noisy. This will certainly be a place we will come back to. Itâs hard to decide if the food was the best or was it the service. Try it, you wonât be disappointed.

Stopped at the Fieldhouse Bar and Grill for happy hour while on a recent visit to Monroe. Nice, open bar/restaurant area. Sat at a high table on the bar side, surrounded by tv's showing a variety of sports/football games. The server approached us right away and took our drink orders. Got a Bud Light and a Yuengling quickly, as it was not crowded between lunch and dinner. Placed an order for a few appetizers and the wait began. After about 35 minutes, got an order of boneless Iberian wings and boudin balls. The wings were very good and flavorful. Ordered crispy fries to go with them which were cooked perfectly. The boudin balls? They were so heavily breaded and deeply fried that it was impossible to determine if there was, indeed, any boudin inside. 2nd time I've had those, and it may be my last. I want to taste the boudin, not the fried breading. Got another round of beer with the food and then had to wait for the check forever. Most of the servers seemed to be congregating at the end of the bar, by the kitchen service window, waiting. But none were doing much of anything. Will go back to the Fieldhouse and give something else a try, but please fix how you serve that boudin.

Had a family gathering - price was more than reasonable for the food - we had a pizza, Cajun pasta w/shrimp, and flathouse sandwich - service by Matt was outstanding - one of the orders came out wrong and he made sure it was right - definitely will be back

Great local restaurant that serves a variety of burgers, tacos, and salads. We also have a large variety of beer on tap! Come on down and check us out!
Here are the problems:No menu on website or anywhere elseWithout a menu, it is difficult to ask all the right questions on phoneBurger was better than average but had items on it I did not want.Over $26 is a little expensive for 2 burgers with simple friesI was shorted on the change by nearly a half dollar by them rounding in their favor-by the way this is theft or theft by employee.Other than this, everything was fine. I give it a 2.

Lunched there today with a friend & enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. Did not notice until eating it that it was enhanced with bacon, which added to the floor. They were out of skinny fries, so I subsituted to regular fries and they were very goo. Service good, seed promptly. Overall a good meal.

BBQ is MY thing and 2DB&Q was as delicious as has ever passed my lips! The meat was well-flavored whether topless or slathered. The sauce choices were perfect. And the sides...abundant and delectable! We had the twice baked potato casserole, beefy baked beans, and 4 cheese Mac & cheese. Not your average carry out BBQ line, but a dining experience fit for a date!

We stopped here on a long road trip for dinner based on reviews and we were not disappointed. Burger was very good and the cheese fries were very good just a tad hard. Everyone was super friendly. This is a small, local pub and you seat yourself but everyone was very nice to us. Would define stop again.

I had dinner recently at the Waterfront Grill. The setting along the river is about as good as you can ask for in Monroe, Louisiana. They have a nice menu with both surf and turf options. None of the fish is fried, and I absolutely love that commitment in a region that is known for fried fish. The Catfish Desiard, which is made up of two fillets topped with bread crumbs, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, and shrimp, was a terrific entree. The stuffed potato side dish would go well with any entree on any day of the year; it was terrific! The prices are a little high (mine was $23) for the area, but I believe the quality is there. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The year was 1898 when the Trappey name would elevate its presence in Louisiana history. Bernard Trappey created a hot sauce recipe that he knew would be a hot commodity, he along with 11 sons embarked on this exciting new business venture together. In 19
Traveling from Alabama to Dallas we stopped in Monroe for some Cajun food. This certainly satisfied our desires and our stomachs! We sat outside overlooking the river. This is no fancy place, just good food, and obviously filled with locals. Go there for the real thing! Donât forget the fried crawfish tails appetizer.....
