Visited on a Friday evening as have live music for our wedding anniversary Firstly the waiting on staff are fantastic ..but The food dreadful Starters .Ordered poached pear salad. Pears not poachedVegetarian falafel burger disgusting just boiled chick peas mashed together tasteless other meal was Falafel with red pepper tagliatelle tasteless too. It was dry no taste and as if lifted from a plastic container and microwaved We complained and got half our money back. So disappointing this place use to be excellent. Would never go again
Firstly no idea on the reviews complaining about food. The Halfway House is a proper pub and has never done hot food in my years of patronage. Often youâll find sandwiches on the bar provide for all customers free of charge though. Traditional. Good casks. Dog friendly. Period toilets. Huge beer garden out back. Friendly staff.

The Chimneys in Hooton is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine
On a visit to the area, we called in here for dinner. It was a Wednesday night but even so the place was virtually empty, which was not a hopeful sign. We had intended to just have drinks but succumbed to Terrie's warmth and charm and decided to order food. My husband had, in his words, the best lasagne he has ever eaten. I had wild mushroom risotto with an added chicken breast. Everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty, though I would have liked a few more mushrooms. Terrie was an aboslute delight and, because the place was not busy, we spent quite a lot of time chatting and putting the world to rights. What a gem she is! A few, highly personal, negative points. The Black Sheep bitter was too warm for my liking - I appreciate it's probably meant to be served at room temperature, but my preference is for cool beer. As I said, purely personal taste. I drank just a little then handed it over to my husband and ordered a glass of Chenin wine instead. Again, the wine was too warm for my liking, I prefer it well chilled. The garlic bread with the lasagne turned out to be flatbread with very little garlic, but it was tasty. We were too full (and tired from our journey) to eat dessert. The pub itself, probably because of its size, few customers and cold wet weather outside, was a little cold, but that's not their fault. Would we go again? Definitely, for the food, but particularly for Terrie.Hi Maggies_view!Thank you for this great 4* review! We really appreciate all comments made and will look into how we can improve the few points you raised here. Terrie will be delighted that you enjoyed her hospitality! We hope to see you again some time! The Chimneys

Six of us had a meal tonight and it was all excellent, we were all served our food within a two minute period, good considering that we had a variety of cooked dishes and we are not talking of a kitchen with multiple chefs. After our pre dinner drinks we ordered some red wine, we took the recommended Malbec which was excellent.OK now service, perfect, attentive but not pushy. Really perfect.I very much recommend this pub for a couples or more friends dinner, try it, it's worth it.

Just visited today with the family. The place was empty when we arrived but filled up for the match which gave it a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great pint of Guinness and the food for all of us came fresh, piping hot and tasted great. Definitely recommend tying here.

We are dedicated to Real Food, Real Kitchen, Real Chefs. We do not do fast food, but we do great food as fast as we can.
My dear sister recently watched a documentary on independent television called The Real Housewives Of Cheshire, a gritty, no nonsense portrayal of life in the North-West of England. As a contrast to Islington she was keen to see such deprivation for herself so we asked Baker to fire up the Daimler and headed up the M1. It was as bad as we feared with men seemingly unable to afford warm coats on what was a cold autumn night and the women dressed in rags: I don't think I saw a pair of jeans that wasn't practically in tatters all evening. We obviously needed an escape from this poverty and whilst driving round spotted The Cheshire Yeoman. The establishment is divided into a dining area and a bar area with the two being strictly divided along gender lines: ladies in the dining area and the men drinking in the bar. Having settled ourselves at a vacant table a friendly lady provided us with menus. Everything on offer looked inviting and it was difficult to choose. Our meals didn't take too long to arrive and were well presented. The food was good but could have been better with my dear sister's beef being a little dry, but the excellent service easily compensated for this. In the meantime Baker had finished a well kept pint of beer and a packet of crisps in the car park. Our journey back to the comforts of the capital passed without incident.
