Ate here following a football game on a cold, wet windy day. the atmosphere is very convivial, with a well attended bar, TVs with football games, and an attentive wait staff. We were seated immediately, away form the bar crowd but within viewing distance of 2 TVs. They tuned one into a game I wanted to see. I had a local IPA. The food was excellent and I thought it a great way to end an other wise dreary day.

A place where comfort food and environment enhance your dining experience.
We met friends for dinner. I enjoyed stuffed mushrooms appetizer, with my husband . Next I enjoyed their house salad. My husband had Caesar salad. He enjoyed the chicken with grilled artichokes, mushrooms & garlic, with baked potato.I was very happy with the rib special & baked potato. Our friend enjoyed the chicken dinner special, her husband was pleased with his choice of shrimp with linguini and house salad. A great friendly atmosphere!

Same location for 30 years--recently re-opened after a kitchen fire.
Located across from a small town park in this charming Bergen County town, the Iron Horse is near the railroad station, thus it's name. The restaurant looks old, from its narrow two step walk up entrance, bead board walls, worn carpet and tin ceiling and aged tables and chairs. At some point, years ago, it looks as if they expanded into an adjacent store. This left several rooms at different levels, so you are walking up and down several small stairs. This may prove difficult for some and impossible for a wheel chair. On this early Friday evening, the place was mostly empty and we were seated immediately. The menu featured burgers stuffed with various cheeses, their specialty, we were told. Also were salads, sandwiches and some specials. Friday is Prime Rib and this is what I ordered, while my partner had the Chicken Salad Cheese melt served on English muffin, an unusual combination to say the least. Our meal started with Homemade Cole slaw and pickles, another house tradition. It proves fresh, tangy and homemade. My meal includes a Caesar Salad, baked potato with a generous amount of Sour Cream on the side and an ample cut of prime rib ( I ordered the smaller of the two sizes offered.) The rib was cooked as I requested and was good and the Chicken salad was large chicken chunks and obviously house made. The thick layer of melted cheddar, started off tasting good, but later became overwhelming and was removed. The Fries that accompanied the sanwich were also good. We were offered drinks from the bar, and there were a few interesting specials but we did not sample. The restaurant is an establishment that has grown with the town over the years and it can use a face lift. But the food is honest, homemade and good and a local favorite.Parking is on the street and usually available close by.

Normally- love the food, atmosphere, etc. Great spot. Nothing fancy, but fresh bar food, lots of space, live music, and nice bar for a casual night. But recently I met a friend there, and while sitting at the bar, I had to cover my drink several times as the bald, male bartender walked back and forth SNEEZING right into the open air WITHOUT covering his mouth.I picked up my drink and covered it several times as he continued the whole time we were there. He wasn't the friendliest bartender either, and was rude when I asked for more ice. I finished my drink and had no desire to order another from the sneezer, so we went somewhere else. Absolutely unacceptable and GROSS. Listen, I have spring allergies too. But common courtesy, and something I learned as a child is to COVER YOUR MOUTH when you sneeze or cough. Especially if you work in a restaurant. Health 101 in food/drink service is to turn AWAY from the guests, and use the corner of your arm, or a tissue to sneeze into. Not to sneeze into the air, facing people! Again, normally love to hang out here, but never encountered this bartender before and it has completely turned me off from coming back. I'd be even more skeeved out if we had ordered food. Def wouldn't want to be anywhere near this guy during flu season. Someone teach him basic life skills, please, so we can come back and enjoy your restaurant.
