We visited today for Fathers Day for the 2.30pm seating. The pub was very busy with diners from the previous seating leaving and new diners arriving. The menu wasnât as extensive as usual being restricted to roasts and fish dishes, but I think this was a good idea. The dishes all sounded good.We had two roasts (chicken and lamb) and two fish dishes (battered cod and chips, and mussels). All were delicious and generous in the portion size.Although the pub was busy service was prompt and efficient and the staff were all very friendly.Me and Hubbie will hopefully be returning to try the chateaubriand for two!I would highly recommend this warm and welcoming country pub.

On the positive side the staff are all very kind, friendly and helpful, and the sheets and towels were all clean. Unfortunately the hotel itself needs a major refurbishment and clean. The rates are cheap so wasnât expecting anything wonderful but unfortunately the rooms and facilities were dirty. We had two rooms, one had mud and leaves on the floor so clearly not had a basic hoover, the saucer for tea still dirty and a cracked basin. Second room had stained and threadbare carpets, flaking paint all over windows. Seats for breakfast chairs badly stained. Photos attached. Windows single glazed and most rooms above the party room. We travelled a long way for a local family event, went back at 10.30pm with a tired eight year old and had to put up with a very loud disco till midnight. Floor and bed literally shaking - might be ok on a weekday but if you staying when they have an event no sleep before midnight, so not exactly appropriate for a local family stay and shame they donât tell when you book or we would not have stayed. Has potential to be a nice hotel but needs the management to make a major investment in redecorating and cleaning - doors in bedrooms and corridors marked and stained with grease. Probably the shabbiest and dirtiest hotel I have stayed in the uk. Feel sorry for the staff who work there who make a good effort and must get constant complaints- time someone listened and sorted it out.

The Kings Head is a friendly family run pub, just on the outskirts of Hailsham, East Sussex. Serving an extensive British menu, head chef Louisa Weaver has put seasonality at the heart of her cooking. Louisa is particularly passionate about sourcing local
Visited the Kings Head for food (staying elsewhere). Nice choice on the menu and specials available. Maybe a little pricy for standard of food presentation and ambiance but what we had was tasty.

The Black Duck dates from the 1500's and is situated in a truly rural location. The views are amazing - not an overhead cable in sight! The property was completely renovated in 2011 retaining its character and opening up the huge magnificent inglenook fir
Had a fantastic bank holiday Monday afternoon at this wonderful & friendly pub,the food is fantastic I had a bbq tandoori Barnsley chop which was so delicious and cooked to perfection and is making my mouth water just thinking about it! The staff are so friendly and helpful and very attentive to their customers, very impressed with the quality of service considering it was a busy scorching hot bank holiday, there was a live band on and a sausage eating competition on at the pub that day, free to enter with a meal for two at the black duck to be won, sadly I didnât win but thoroughly enjoyed participating and came a respectable 2nd place, the landlord & landlady of the pub were out in the beer garden & bar being fantastic hosts chatting with customers made the afternoon have very comfortable & relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here will be back again soon! âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸

16th Century former Coaching Inn between Battle & Eastbourne. Serving fresh locally sourced food, with ever changing Specials board, in winter 4 log burners and brass candlesticks give wonderful ambience.
Getting lost was well worth it! Found the Lamb Inn after trying to find somewhere to eat lunch. Had great atmosphere and great food. The staff including Joe and Francesco ( the new chef on day one) were both very personable and professional. James was an entertaining host and we had all the attention we could possibly have wanted as we were the only diners there. The pub itself is a fine example of a 16th century coaching inn and still retains many authentic features. Wonderful & memorable lunch - for all the right reasons!Thank you for your lovely review, whilst the rain kept away the many, you intrepid two found sanctuary from the storm. Happy travels. This was our first visit and we both had Sunday roasts (1 beef & 1 pork). They were served with roast potatoes, Yorkshires and piping hot, fresh veg. We even ordered our gravy to come separately. As it was hot we ate alfresco. Just one small point - the garden could do with some TLC.

The Ash Tree Inn is a small but busy country pub, in the middle of Ashburnham. We pride ourselves on fresh home cooked food and great service. We have a great selection of seating and a fantastic beer garden with a great view.
What a fabulous night - Elvis was amazing with loads of interaction with his audience. The food was delicious- three courses and all lovely. Staff extremely good - service with a smile which always goes down well. Thank you Nat and all your staff for an amazing evening and great company.

Although this pub does not offer a âtraditionalâ Sunday lunch in the true sense of the word, I had the roast lamb which was incredibly tender, no fat and extremely tasty. It was a popular choice as several diners selected the same and there were clean plates all round. Will certainly return for another Sunday lunch

Casual quality dining at an affordable price in a traditional english country pub
What a lovely gem of a country pub. Unspoilt by the modern rat race. Matt the landlord is a smashing bloke, the Thai food is superb and The Harveys Best is every bit as good as Black Boys Inn, which is the yardstick as far as Harveys is concerned...
