We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Quay Inn with its lovely view over the Hayle Estuary. The chalet type family lodges were spacious, with comfortable bedding for 4, two armchairs, table, ample storage, tea and coffee making facilities including a Nespesso machine, fridge and an airy bathroom with shower and basic toiletries. The staff were brilliant, always helpful and charming, informative and nothing was too much bother even when rushed off their feet. This is a very popular establishment with a great bar with some very interesting memorabilia and lovely restaurant for casual customers. The menu is extensive, with daily specials that would suit all tastes. All the meals are cooked to order including breakfast which was varied and a great start to the day. The Sunday Roast is particularly popular.....in fact it was heaving inside and out !!! Large outdoor area with playground. Private garden area for hotel guests. Large parking area. Very popular with birdwatchers. Good transport links with St. Ives....2 min drive to the St.Erth park and ride. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

This pub restaurant is clean, tidy and you get a big welcome from the staff. Itâs a beautiful setting for lunch and we both ordered roast lamb. It was presented perfectly and tasted just like you had cooked it at home. Everything was hot tasty and served perfectly. Portions were big too. We chose the local Cornish cheeseboard for dessert and were treated to 5 local cheeses and they all tasted superb. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Just one word of caution please book in advance as the restaurant gets very busy.

Located just off the Cornwall Coast Path in Gwithian, West Cornwall, the Red River Inn is a child and pet friendly pub with accommodation and a large beer garden. CURRENTLY BEING RENOVATED - DUE TO REOPEN SOON!
We had a meal here on a Saturday night whilst camping nearby with friends. We're glad we booked - it was very busy.Lively pub, good atmosphere. The menu has enough choice that you'll find something you fancy but isn't overwhelming with choice. I liked that the menu explained where the food had been sourced - mainly locally.Portions are generous, yet reasonably priced - you definitely won't go away still hungry!Great to hear you enjoyed your visit Jo, thank you for taking the time to review us. We are excited this week to add the newly opened Free Range Dairy to our list of suppliers along with Cornhill Farm Free Range Eggs; both of whom are just up the road at North Cliffs & Kehelland - do drop in and try some on your next visit!

We're a licensed California style restaurant heavy on the Mexican. Fresh fish tacos, homemade ground steak burgers and fresh cut fries too! All homemade with a passion for food! We have a great selection of Tequila, Mexican beer, cocktails and California
We were looking forward to trying Harry's, but turned out to be a lengthy night. The owner needs to not take bookings if she can't get food out quicker than 1 hour. The kitchen area looks too small to turn out food quicker when the restaurant is busy. Were going to leave after nearly an hour of waiting, but food then turned up. Nothing special, so won't be returning.Hey! Thanks for your advice... Take less bookings = cook less food = quicker service!! More often than not we get the orders out in a timely fashion and it's a rare thing when turnaround is more than 20 minutes, even when the place is packed. Sometimes, the ride is a bit bumpy...it's normal, really, in every style of business. We are also in staff transition so new staff are learning new skills, that also takes time and can cause delays. It's unfortunate, and I apologize, that you had a bad experience at our place...it seems you tend to pick places that disappoint you. Take it easy Mksun...the path to perfection is riddled with flaws

A friendly cottage style pub, serving fine ale and excellent pub food with beautiful finishing touches.
A wet day last week found us scurrying around for somewhere to have lunch. Having eaten there on a visit just over a year ago, I suggested the Cornish Arms to my partner. Wet and not a little bedraggled, the welcome received from the landlady was fulsome. To eat we settled for Briam which was delicious. Thank you to all involved.

Out with friends , we had a lovely evening , the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very very tasty and portions were of a good size My only slight criticism would be the drink prices , believe we were charged around £4.50 a pint But overall we had a pleasant experince and we all would mostly certainly return

We round this through recommendations on a Hayle Facebook page, absolute gem food was amazing! We come to Hayle every year on our holidays and will definitely be back next year. I had the lasagne & my partner had the Cajun chicken burger. Both to die for and massive portions. Couldnât finish mine. Staff are lovely. Thanks Turnpike Inn

Came here for dinner a few nights ago with my Aunt, Uncle, partner and our 3 youngest children and had a lovely meal â tasty well presented food, good value and great service.Parking is available in car park outside and you can reserve tables in advance (which we did). To start we shared some nachos which came with salsa and sour cream (they were slightly unusual as they appeared to be baked rather than fried and were softer than I was expecting with a dusting of paprika). For our mains two of my children opted for the penne with chicken and bacon, my Aunt had a pie and the rest of us had burgers (which were really juicy, meaty and well cooked) and were complimented by salad garnish and the best chips Iâve ever had (I donât normally like chips but these were excellent!). The desserts did not disappoint either â in particular the chocolate brownie and also the Eton Mess (which was yummy!).A big thumbs up from us!

Tucked away in the old quarter of Penzance, The Cornish Barn is a rustic restaurant, bar and smokehouse in Penzance serving a wholesome menu with a focus on fresh Cornish produce â all helped along by craft beers and wines from local independent vineyards
We had drinks here one night, and came back the next night for dinner. We loved the warm, cosy decor, good choice of drinks and pretty good food. The only thing that wasnât great was the service; a lot of errors both times, the staff were friendly but lacked professionalism. They forgot to bring menus and to seat us in the restaurant until well after the reservation time, and every drinks order was messed up. All in all, however, we forgave the slapdash service because the ambiance and food made up for it. We would go again if we were in the area.Good evening honeyHenleyonThames,Thank you for your time writing this review.I am happy to hear that you loved the atmosphere of the Restaurant, and I will be sure to pass on your comments about the food on to the kitchen.I am sorry that the service was not to the standards that you wanted. Please feel free to contact the management team via phone or by emailing us at [email protected] to provide some extra information, so that we can work to insure that this does not happen again. We appreciate all feedback to help our eccentric charmed slice of Penzance grow.Kind RegardsRyanDuty manager
