We were very disappointed at our Sunday lunch on 18th August. The meat was very tough the carrots were Rock hard and potatoes were not fresh and hot like they had been kept warm.We have been for a meal previously and it was good which is why we were returning - so we were so disappointed at the lack of quality and attention to detail. We will not be returning.

The Fox House in Longshaw is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fi
A group of 13 of us,here for a reunion, stayed in the accommodation at Fox House (Innkeeper's Lodge) and were joined by two more for a meal on the first evening of our 3 night stay. After very pleasant drinks in the bar we had a dining room to ourselves, had a range of dishes (variously starters, mains and dessert) and everyone commented on the excellence of everything. Each morning we had the continental breakfast included in the price of the room, which offered a range of cereals, fruit, yogurt, juices, bread and delicious pastries made on the premises. The staff throughout our stay were unfailingly friendly, obliging and efficient without being overbearing.A delightful experience in a hotel-bar-restaurant in a perfect Peak District location.Christhewanderer, we're happy you found our staff to be so supportive during your experience here at The Fox House. We will pass along your comments to the team, Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!Kind ReagrdsFox House Team

We (couple with triplet daughters aged 10) ate at the Bulls Head Inn two evenings in succession whilst staying in an AirBnB cottage in Foolow. Thereâs a great atmosphere, excellent service, and the food is fantastic. We worked our way through the specials menu and would highly recommend the pub to others. There are outdoor tables overlooking the village green and dogs are welcome inside and out (except in the dining room area).

Been past in a hundred times but dropped in for dinner. Lovely fresh haddock with light batter and great sticky toffee pudding not to heavy. Wife had nice roast lamb. Missed partridge on menu. Very friendly staff. Tight car park but worth persevering. Will definitely make this a regular stop. Lovely

We have been to The Barrel Inn for dinner several times, with friends, and have enjoyed our meals (especially the steak pie), but our last visit in June was not as good. My plaice was very bland and I would not choose to have this again. It won't stop us returning, as we have been going for years and love the views from Bretton Edge!

We arrived in Hathersage for our walking weekend and decided to explore the village on the Friday evening. Hadnât read reviews so all establishments have equal ratings for us on that night. Called in at the Plough on the outskirts of the village for a beer, not bad. On our way back and feeling like an evening snack we called in the little John. The outside of the Pub resembles a Wetherspoons type establishment with advertising. Thatâs not a criticism by the way. The interior is basic but fine, the barman was pleasant and cheerful whoâs name is Blade by the way, and yes my wife cracked the ârunnerâ joke which I am sure heâs heard many times. Beer selection is fine if only the IPA hadnât run out however the bitter was a weâll worthy replacement, fresh and well kept. We shared a Pizza, fries and coleslaw and for £14 it was amazing value, more than enough for two of us and the quality would rival any of your big Pizza specialist. So all in all a good experience with good food and a cheerful Barman. Ticked our box

What a fabulous place. Friendly relaxing and has it all. Stopped for breakfast. Not only great taste but perfectly cooked. Sat in a relaxed area surrounded by local art and items from local businesses. Too early to sample but a good range of hand pull ales in the bar area. A credit to the people of Bamford

We bought Groupon vouchers for the Millstone Inn and booked a table for our meal.We collected our friends and made a long journey to the pub.On arrival we presented our vouchers only to be told that they no longer accept them. This despite the vouchers being well within the valid dates.were now faced with paying a second time for meals that we had already bought. We deceided to leave. This is very bad form. It is one thing to discontinue with a certain deal, but it isn't acceptable to refuse to honour bookings that are already paid for.We will not be using the Millstone ever again and would not recommend our friends to do so either. We are so sorry about the mix up with the promotion which we entered into with groupon.unfortunatley there was an error on the expirey dates issued, it should of been three months from the promotion going live but the vouchers were giving the impression it was three months from purchasing the voucher , when we notified groupon of the mistake we were informed that they would be emailing the holders to advise them of the expiry date we could not except vouchers after this date as we could not redeem them ourselves thus not get paid for the deal, where as the voucher holders could get a full refund from groupon you where not the only person effected by this and it has made us look bad, needless to say we will not be doing deals with groupon again I can understand your frustration but there was very little we could do, if you had informed us that you where bring a voucher when booking, we would of advised you of the postion with regard to the expiry issue Once again sorry for the mix up

A family owned and run hotel and restaurant, situated 5 minutes outside of Hathersage upon 11 acres of lush land by the River Derwent.
Came here on a Saturday evening by chance, as other places on Hathersage were either busy or we didn't fancy them. The place was nicely busy, giving a good feeling. The menu is quite extensive for a country pub, but I suppose it is as bit more than that. The food was served promptly and was delicious, and the staff were very pleasant. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the following evening.A bonus was that the wifi was good and better than our hotel in the village.
