The Royal Oak at Wetton is a 400 year old traditional country pub that offers excellent homemade food, a selection of ever changing Real Ales, an open fire and beer garden. We have recently won 2 CAMRA awards and we feature in the 2017 Good Beer Guide. We
Booked a table for 8 three days prior and the landlady went out of her way to ensure that appropriate food was ordered in for special dietary requirements. The food was basic although some of the items advertised on the special board were not available. The guy running the place was polite and helpful and apologized when one of the party expressed their disappointment at the meal. The rest of us were quite happy with ours. The pub is very much a local pub and their are no frills but itâs clean and functional. Toilets are a bit rough and ready and the pub would probably benefit from a refurb but hey ho, itâs not on a main drag with loads of passing trade but there are plenty of holiday rentals and outdoor activity types in profusion so maybe a little investment would help with expanding trade. So no great shakes but not a bad experience either and the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream was fantastic. The group were quite happy with wine available and there was alcohol free Peroni too. Thanks for taking time to write your review. You were very welcome, going out of our way is something that we like to do to ensure our guests are looked after and that we cater for all guests that have special dietary requirements. All of your food is home cooked using the finest ingredients and was specially prepared for you. I am very sorry that you felt your food was basic although you enjoyed our homemade chocolate fudge cake as you thought it was fantastic.Other guests that night fed back to us that their food was excellent and we are constantly praised for our fresh homemade dishes. We get lots of customers returning to us to dine which is rewarding to know. You were asked by the gentleman working the bar if everything was ok with your meals and one of you raised an issue with your salmon as it was a little salty. Had you have raised the issue before finishing your meal we could have replaced it or offered an alternative dish.Several other guests had the same dish and they all commented that the dish was lovely. We are very sorry that we ran out of a few dishes on our specials board, this was due to a high demand. We always recommend pre-ordering your food if there is a dish you would like and it is also stated on our website that groups of 8 or more will need to pre-order their meals. This is to ensure that dishes are available and that you are not disappointed. Its unfortunate that you didnât pre-order you meals and i can only apologise our popular dishes sold out before you arrived. We are aware that the pub requires some work. We took over the pub last October and so far have carried out lots of maintenance & refurbishment work including new windows and decorating the bar. Unfortunately we need to close whilst the we fully refurbish the rest of the pub & the toilets. Its a shame you didnât appreciate the beauty and charm that is offered at the Royal Oak. We donât want to change how the pub feels as we quite often get told our guests love the quirky feel that it has.If you are passing again in the future we would love to see you.RegardsDiane

County pub full of charm with a modern twist.
Had a meal last night, 4 of us & everyoneâs dinner was amazing! I had the trout & it was delicious. A full trout & cooked to perfection. Others had the sausage & mash, the pork in peppercorn sauce & the minted lamb casserole. All of it was fabulous. As for the jam rolly polly... that was exceptional!! Highly recommended

Pub Diner in Derbyshire, small village called Crowdecote near Buxton
Lovely pub with excellent range of beers, great pub food and dogs very welcome. This is one of our favourite venues and I highly recommend it. However it is extremely popular so if you want a meal it's best to book ahead. The home made pies are wonderful. Landlord very knowledgeable and always aims to please. Well worth a visit!

We went with friends one Saturday evening. I had the beef and stilton pie which was absolutely delicious and huge! So huge I couldn't managed a pudding, which was a shame because they all sounded and looked fabulous. My husband had the millionaire's fish pie which was equally good and managed to put away a pud too. Would recommend booking as it was very busy but the service was good and the staff very friendly.

Visited recently for lunch whilst staying in a nearby village. We both had a sandwich. My beef and horseradish sandwich was way to big. Ok I know its unusual but I personally think sometimes less is more! Unfortunately the multitude of beef was a bit tough and I could not taste any horseradish! I realise it is not the fault of the premises but we were also pestered by wasps whilst sitting outside in the lovely weather on the day. My wife enjoyed her cheddar and pickle sandwich to be fair.

Menu very vast - so vast in fact we struggled to choose. In the end I went for the garlic mushrooms then vegetable lasagne then banoffee pie. Lovely food albeit a little stodgey! Our dog enjoyed the evening also although he wasnât offered any treats :(

A warm, friendly pub with well appointed rooms, which are tastefully furnished. Our meals were well presented and extremely enjoyable. It's a shame that the chef still decided to include, when asked not to, certain items from the menu choice. The service was really slow, with our dessert arriving 35 minutes after we ordered .. lemon meringue - key lime pie on the menu. Our dessert was returned! The chef appeared at one point with a number of visible rips across his shirt .. which doesn't seem very professional. It is beautiful venue, which in my opinion, is let down by poor management.

The Waterloo Inn is a traditional Country pub in the Peak District Village of Biggin-by-Hartington. We offer traditional homemade food and Real Ales. There is a large Beer Garden and patio area for the better weather and an open Fire inside for those cold
6 of us called in off the Tissington Trail Bank Holiday Monday a polite barmaid explained they had just taken a large food order but would fetch out menus as soon as possible before we had finished our first drinks she had brought out menus and after ordering food it was not long before being served, generous portions and good quality highly recommended.

Haven't managed to visit Hartington for a couple of years so we were wowed by the renovation at our favourite pub. It looks amazing.I'm pleased to say that the welcome and food hadn't changed - they were excellent as on previous visits. We were a group of 9 for Sunday lunch and each of us had a lovely meal, nothing was too much trouble. We will be back, hopefully sooner next time.
