The Vanguard is a locally owned bar and restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Bayview in Milwaukee. They serve sausage sandwiches in every way imaginable. We had the kimchi dog, the Nashville hot chicken sausage, and the Thai breaker. The fries are outstanding and they have every kind of brew imaginable.

While visiting with family in Milwaukee, they took us Cafe Lulu for dinner. It's a fun little place. I had one of their melts (forgot which one) but it was delicious. It had spinach and portobello mushrooms sautéed with garlic, and melted mozzarella cheese on grilled bread. Very tasty. My husband who likes more basic food should have stuck with the burger. He said the filling in his pita was okay, but that the steak was not very tender. I think everybody else in our party was pleased with their meal.

First time visit using a Groupon on a Sunday afternoon. Place was not very busy and bartender served our drink orders promptly and recommended the prime rib sandwich which we both ordered. The sandwiches arrived in a basket with fries and they were excellent. We live out of town but we would visit again when we are flying out of the airport.

42 Ale House was founded in 2015 as a pub-style follow up to 42 Lounge in downtown Milwaukee. In mid 2016 the two companies split into separate, privately owned businesses. Since that time 42 Ale House has remained dedicated to cultivating a relaxed and i
The Ale House is a neighborhood pub with a decidedly gamer/nerdy feel. We came on a snowy Saturday night and had very good service even though the pub was full. The drinks menu included beer, cider, wine and cocktail options with local craft breweries prominently featured. That's nice to see.We started off with the Poutine and were pleased that it was prepared in the classic Quebecois-style, fries topped by cheese curds with beef gravy. The cheese curds were especially good. I had a Mac and Cheese dish enough for two or more. This dish was made with a white cheddar that did not overwhelm the taste of the macaroni, which usually happens. The gluten-free menu attracted us to the place. For our other entrees my friends chose a gluten-free quesadilla which was a little limp and had a taste that seemed off from the typical quesadilla. Probably the gluten-free recipe. Gluten-Free free burger and tater tots were very good. Those with gluten conditions appreciate the effort. The decor of the pub is a mix of Hogwarts, Dr. Who, Star Wars and Game of Thrones. That would be quite a clash. A shelf behind us was stacked with board games for those who were going to be spending a little time here. And, of course, the name of the pub is the answer to the great question in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Sorry, you'll have to read the book to understand the question.Hi, you are likely correct with the quesadilla. Its a rice tortilla which is gluten free, cooked on a gluten free cooking surface. It is definitely a different texture from a flour tortilla. For some of our items we offer both a GF and non-GF version, but with some items such as the quesadilla there isnt a safe way (from an allergen perspective) to do it both ways -- so the "safer" version wins out. Thanks for stopping in!
Literally built from the ashes of old world Milwaukee, City Lounge is a work of art in itself. With reconstructed, and refurbished antique décor mixed with new age tech, City Lounge has something everybody. Amazing drinks from famous Martinis and Wine on
This used to be a great bar with a great atmosphere, delicious martinis, microbrews, and a very nice outdoor patio. However, since the new ownership took over, the experience at City Lounge has significantly declined. If you like your martini glass only filled 2/3, this is the place for you. If you like waiting almost an hour for your food, this is the place for you. If you like slow service, this is the place for you. If you like rude service, ask for the young blonde lady to wait on you ("I only have two hands" she informed us when we asked for silverware and we saw her drinking out of the martini shaker- no wonder my martini wasn't full).Very disappointing. My friends and I used to love this place and have previously filled many martini punch cards. However, after 3 bad visits in a row and word that they are discontinuing their Monday martini special and several of their martini flavors, won't be going back any time soon.

We had heard good things about the roast beef dinner for Sunday dinner. We had a shrimp appeitizer which was excellent. My partner and I each order the breef dinner medium well. My partner's came medium well but, mine came rare and bleeding on the plate. Instead of replacing the meat the server brought a plate took my meat back to the kitchen. Needless to say I had the meat packed up and I took it home to cook. The Yorkshire puddings are about the size of a salad plate somewhat tasty but very burnt around the edges.

I live out of town and a Groupon deal brought me here initially a year ago for the burger special for two. I decided I had to return again when I was in Milwaukee visiting family and four of us enjoyed their fabulous burger baskets. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared and our server Jessie did a great job in seeing that we were well taken care. The friendly neighborhood bar was actually pretty busy with football and basketball games on TV and several people enjoying food and drinks. Definitely will return again!!

St. Francis Brewery & Restaurant has been serving heavenly food and sinfully good beer to the St. Francis and Milwaukee community since April 2009. As a locally owned business, our restaurant creates a warm, family-friendly dining experience. Our full men
This is a nice place for a decent brunch buffet. There's a good variety and good quality, something for everyone and reasonably priced. I suggest going at a more earlier time than later. The dishes are empty and stations a bit slow with service when nearing the end.

I went with my family of 5 for a Friday fish fry and wax terribly disappointed. We arrived st 4:30pm before the rush to avoid any mishaps. The hostess was very hospitable and that was the only good element of our visit. The waitress was nice, but also became responsible to helping a table if 12. Took our order, very quiet voice and had to ask her to keep repeating herself. When the food arrived, the fish was room temperature and the fries were cold. Our food must have been under the heat lamp for a few minutes. When mentioned numerous times that the food was cold, no one did anything to correct. The walleye appeared to have Lawrys seasoned salt and paprika, I couldnât done that myself at home!!! When 4/5 of the fish frys are st room temperature, this is a problem. The hostess came to our table when we completed our meal and asked if we were getting ready to leave because they were waiting for the table. I thought she was apologizing fir the poor quality of food. I was wrong. Never have I been treated like that. Needless to say, I will never go back. Poor service and poor quality is the equation for dissaster.
