I came in for lunch and ordered the $12 lamb sandwich and a beer. The sandwich was tasty and the beer good. The tab came to $28, so the beer was super expensive. I felt a bit taken aback as I didnât expect the beer to cost more than the sandwich.Hi Explorer126, I'm so sorry that was your experience - something must have gone wrong and I'd love to investigate it - our beer is definitely not that expensive, ranging from $8.50 a pint to $12.50 for craft beers - if you're happy to please email me a copy of your receipt, or even the date and time you came in and I'll look into it. Our email address is [email protected]. Cheers! Alex

We booked online which worked well. The food was somewhere heading North of Average but marginally South of a Very Good rating for the cost. The Lamb main was certainly very good however the sides kind of let the second Steak meal down. Shared entree of fried Chicken was just above OK. Acoustics (music from the loudspeakers) was bad to average. Service was really good, great beer selection & good wine selection.

Stopped at Tavern Hardwood before catching a flight to Australia. As we were in the doorstep at 11.30 we were the first customers in.Prompt efficient service with a smile.I had the Corn Fritters with Bacon, Avocado and Tomato Salsa. Fritters were nice and light, generous serving of bacon. Portioning of avocado and the Tomato Salsa could have been "a bit more".For dessert I had the Hokey Pokey and Chocolate Cheesecake. It was scrumptious.Again another well presented meal at one of our favourite places for a bite to eat. Thank you for taking the time to call in to tavern, we appreciate your custom.Happy and safe travels.

This is the second visit this year and again was pleased with the atmosphere, great service and fab food. We could still hear the unruly rabble at the bar but the food made up for that inconvenience. Vege Dumplings and Duck Liver pate to start and then mains of Risotto of the day and Lamb Shoulder yummy. we will be back.

Dinned here on Friday (10/10/19) night with my partner celebrating our 5 year anniversary. We were seated at our table by the host desk and here comes the highlight of the night. He had a long name but he introduced him self as "bugsy like bugsy malone or bugs bunny, bugs" (exactly what he said). We found it catchy and easy to remember. He was just amazing. My partner and my self was talking about him on our way home as well. Infact my very first review on Trip Advisor is for him. He created a whole story around everything yet in a funny, cheeky way. How we are the most important table for him that night. We were greeted with complimentary Champagne not just a cheap one it was veuve. He simplified the menu to us and took our order. what's amazing about the service other than his wittiness is that he created this feeling that the kitchen is concerned about us he told us most of the names of the kitchen staff members who will be involved in making our dish. He also said that he will NOT meal check us that his chefs are the best in the business BUT he will come to pour water shortly after the mains are served and we can flag him down if the food is bad. later he told us that he just didn't want to ask us questions while having food in our mouth. i have never thought of it and we always get disturbed at other restaurant while food in our mouth. Bloody Mary's is giving these guys an amazing service training or may be its just Bugsy. He is a gem and we left a tip at the host desk lady jane and told her about him. We Highly recommend bloody marys and bugsy's service. We are hoping to come on a wednesday or saturday for one of those aged prime ribs. AND YES Bugsy we will not forget to pre order and ask for the most handsome meat carver that bloody marys have.

We had heard about this resturant and decided to check it out. It was a cold Thursday evening outside and this was also the case inside until the heating was turned up. A small but interesting menu and our waiter who was the only staff member there apart from the Chef was really welcoming and professional. We ordered the Pate to share which was very tasty, smooth and well presented but was so small that it was hardly a dish for 2 people and at close to $20 was overprced. For mains we ordered their signature dish which was a glorified steak burger with fries which was very nice but the sauce called a beer-butter sauce that came with it was disgusting, My wife had the steak which she said was beautiful. So although the food was nicely cooked and presented it was overpriced for what it was.

Called in on a Sunday evening for a bite to eat. There was a trio playing jazz music and the atmosphere was great with a lot of people enjoying themselves, we just about managed to get a couple of seats in the bar! Great selection of beers on tap I was pretty spoilt for choice! For food my girlfriend had fish and chips which she reckons was the best so far sheâs had in NZ. I had the chorizo and sausage meatloaf which tasted great. My only criticism with my meal was that it needed a bit of altering, it came with onion rings and mash which I didnât find went very well together, but the meatloaf itself was so tasty! Apart from that a great little pub with top beers and tasty food, will definitely return

Rogues creates a captivating experience of uncompromising goodness. Step in from the hustle and bustle of Riccarton and unwind in understated style. Survey the street side atmosphere from the swanky vintage bar. Kick in for the afternoon in the laid back,
Very impressed with the food selection, very creative and can tell the chef is passionate about flavour and presentation.I had the balsamic beef cheek, it was cooked to perfection and even the greens were surprisingly flavourful. My husband had a bacon buttie, the bacon was crispy but was not greasy and the chutney inside was perfectly matched. We will definitely be back and try their dinner and dessert menu!!Thanks heaps for the fantastic review, appreciated. Will pass on your kind comments to the kitchen crew. The Balsamic Beef Cheek is a favourite amongst the team as well, it's a fantastic dish.Yes please do come back and see us for dinner or dessert some time soon.Regards S
