Walking from our campsite into Chester and found this gem! Called in to slake our thirst before we turned back and ended up staying for something to eat! âSmall dishes inspired by tapas and messeâ being a vegetarian I was well satisfied and he enjoyed his pork tenderloin. We are only in Chester for four days but will call here again! In the meantime itâs dark and we have to retrace our steps - hope the real ale wasnât too strong!

We called in here this Sunday lunchtime, we hadn't made a booking, it was very much spur of the moment but we were so glad we did call in.The service was spot on, we were shown to our table and immediately we were asked if we would like drinks and we were given a menu. We both had Sunday lunch, my husband had chefs choice which was pork and I had roast beef. Both were absolutely delicious. We couldn't manage a dessert but there will be a next time.

Welcome to The Ye Olde Kings Head. A Tudor style property built-in 1622 (The Stuart period) but erected on the foundations from the 13th century. The building is recorded in the national heritage list for England as a designated Grade II* listed property.
We stayed at the hotel here, and decided to also have dinner as liked the look of the restaurant and menu. The food was excellent and the choice of gins/rums very good. The 2 chaps serving were very friendly and helpful. Found my new favourite rum thanks to the bar staff recommendation. I had the steak pie which was very tasty, but overpriced at £16 though. For 2 mains and 2 single spirits with mixer came to £40, so not cheap, but good quality and setting.

We visited for lunch after just arriving in Chester and coming across this place by chance on a busy bank holiday weekend. The outside area was packed but we easily got a seat inside. The service was very friendly with the staff explaining itâs a âtapasâ type menu but with English food. I chose the rarebit from the lunchtime menu which is good value at £10 for a âposhâ sandwich, fries and a soft drink and was tasty. They did charge me £2 extra to swap the fries for a healthier option (broccoli) but this wasnât an issue really. My boyfriend had the burger from the main menu which went down well.It was good value in a nice setting with good food.

Pleasant place, relaxing and with great service. Had a wonderfully different Italian afternoon tea, which has to rate as one of the best I have had. What impressed me most is that my wife is gluten intolerant and they provided a considered and equal alternative for her. Often I have found places provide an inferior alternative (Alnwick Gardens this means you!!!), not Veeno, so thank you for this it is very much appreciated. Ould definitely recommend and go again.

Traditional British style pub set in a wonderful historic location offering great value local food and ales in warm and friendly surroundings
Have been here before for the ale when visiting Chester but decided to eat here tonight. What wonderful unpretentious pub food. A wonderful lambs heart, peas and mint starter followed by a fantastic braised beef and mushroom pie. The beef wasnât dry, there was plenty of filling (unlike so many other pies these days) with light fluffy pastry. superb rich gravy with well cooked chunky chips. And letâs not forget the beer cos this place knows how to keep real ale. The place takes you back with its historical fixtures and fittings and makes you feel like your in an old English boozer in the days before pub National chains, managers and the bean counters took over the trade and ruined most modern day British pubs...

I had perfectly cooked ribeye. Accompanied by a drink, chips, mushroom, onion and tomatoes. All for £12.95. I upgraded to sweet potato fries (£1 more) and an additional side salad. House wine was more than quaffable. In all, reasonably priced but not compromised on quality. Faultless service too.

hypha brings micro-seasonal produce to the forefront with our inventive small plates menu. 100% plant based. 0% preachy. An inventive wine list is paired with casual fine dining dishes and in-house fermentation compliments our urban greenhouse atmosphere.
This was my third meal at Hypha. All have been excellent. Taste and presentation are faultless and it's good value too. The jus with the Sunday Roast ( Vegetable Wellington) was delicious as were the crunchy roast potatoes, root vegetables and green beans cooked in miso, followed by raspberry salad with meringue and white chocolate soil dessert. Every item on the menu was selected by our large group (11) and we were all very happy with our choice. Staff were cheerful and efficient. We'll definitely be back. You don't have to be vegan to enjoy the food. Non-vegans might be surprised by the tastes.

Popped into Revs at the weekend, been to loads of them now, mainly Leeds. But this one in Chester was spot on! Service from the guys behind the bar was good, could be fast, but this is down to them making cocktails. Just miss the bar staff would spot 3 guys and think maybe they just want some beers and serve us quicker!Atmosphere was buzzing with loads of people in.HI Dave, thank you so much for your feedback and for taking the time to write us a great review! I'm so happy to hear that you loved our atmosphere, and enjoyed the service from our team! See you soon!
