A Great British Country Pub nestled in the Ribble Valley overlooked by Pendle Hill in the most Idylic Hamlet called Paythorne. A real Country Pub owned by the same family for nearly twenty years and one of Ribble Valley's longest serving landlady's. We we

We regret that we are no longer serving food. Our cosy bar will be open from 4pm every day for you to sample a wide range of cask ales, lagers and wines together with a varied selection of non alcoholic drinks.
This is currently one of our favourite restaurants. Went with family after prebooking a table. Always served quickly with food and drinks. At around £100 for four people with starts and mains including drinks, great value, never fails. The owners and the waitresses make you feel at home and that nothing is too much trouble for them. Lovely homely food and not overpriced, we will return.

We were camped here over the Bank Holiday, we went in for Pie night on Thursday, and again for the Roast Dinner on Sunday, both excellent value and ample portions, we have been regular visitors now for a couple of years, Burni is very helpful and great to deal with, and the staff on the bar are very attentive and friendly, most of them being there from our first visit. A two course Sunday Roast for under £11, and three courses for £14, we will be back.

My wife and stayed at the Inn for 2 nights. Whilst I was not able to give a good review for the accommodation my experience of the restaurant was completely the opposite. From the waiting staff to the excellent food we were extremely impressed. My wife had the lamb on both nights and thoroughly enjoyed it on both occasions. I had the fish platter and liver on the second night. Once more these were cooked to perfection. The breads on arrival were a lovely touch. The staff were extremely attentive without ever being intrusive.Well what a review THANK YOU and we look forward to welcoming you again soon! I shall certainly pass on your comments to our team! The accommodation review well we shall leave that for you to judge yourself dear readers! As you have said Mr J you will return! Great stuff we look forward to seeing you soon!Veronica and the team

We are a great pub with even greater food. This is a family business with Susan's son Simon in charge of the kitchen.
Reserved a table at the White Bull for a celebration Sunday lunch. We had been quoted a price of £12.95 per head but the menu we were presented with was only for a two or three course lunch at £16.95 or £20.95 per head. We accepted this and chose starters which were good. The main roast was, sadly, rather disappointing - we were asked if we wanted the beef well done or pink and we ordered pink, only to get well done. The pork roast was better. Our biggest complaint was the lack of gravy on the plates and we ordered extra gravy. When it arrived it was a very small jug, only half full for 6 people. When we received the bill we saw we had been charged £1.95 extra for this. Overall we felt the meal was adequate but had the distinct impression they were out to get as much money as possible from us - did I mention the over priced drinks?Good afternoon , we are very disappointed to receive this review as 3 stars is nowhere near our standard as the other reviews clearly show. Our Sunday roast is available for £12.95 as a one course option , we show the 2 course price to show the additional saving that is available on a Sunday lunch ,however do apologise if this was not clear. We will look at the gravy issue as this really has never surfaced before , but as a gravy lover myself , i do understand .I have to agree you should not have been charged for the extra gravy and with that in mind i would like to refund that in a bottle of wine or similar in the hope we can tempt you back to see that maybe this was only a small glitch that we take very seriously .We look at drinks prices locally and feel we are more than competitive in terms of product and quality to all our local competitors . Please accept our apologies and do email me on [email protected] so we can discuss this without prejudice in order to give us a chance to alter your view. kind regards
We prefer a simpler way of life⦠take a step back in time to and enjoy some true Lancashire culture! â We would like to think you can taste it in our fresh homemade cooking. â Relax and be served by our helpful, experienced & quaintly attired staff. Casua
We booked ahead and were asked to come half an hour earlier which wasnât a problem for us but on arrival it was hard to understand as ours was the only table reserved. We were shown to what would be the last table anyone would want, near the kitchen door so staff would be in and out constantly and next to the door through to the bar which had coats on the back which would be touching the head of the person sat there. We asked to sit somewhere else and were told chose anywhere, canât understand why we werenât given a table in a better position in the first place as there were no others reserved in that room. We were not given any menus or asked if we wanted a drink, people who came in after us had their order taken before anybody asked what we would like and were able to ask for menus Apologies were given as the server thought the other staff member would have done this. Our food was really good, well presented and delicious, tender roast beef and perfectly cooked vegetables with a fantastic Yorkshire pudding. Very pleased we had made the right choice for our lunch despite the shaky start. Average score because of the service.

Comfortable bar and restaurant area.
Our evening meal was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and good value for money. Although the waitress was run off her feet due to an unexpected busy Wednesday night, she still managed to stay pleasant, helpful and cheerful throughout the evening. The breakfast was the same.. cooked beautifully, presented well and tasted great!... highly recommended..

We visited for lunch as part of our boating holiday. Lovely friendly staff, good choice of real ales and the dirty fries were out of this world.I wish I lived nearby.

If you've not visited The Craven Heifer before, you'll find it a spacious mix of traditional architectural features and comfortable modern style. Our culinary team have created a fantastic menu bringing a contemporary flair to classic British cuisine. All
The Craven Heifer is our favourite and most frequented place to eat going there on average once a week. The staff are exceptionally efficient and friendly and always greet us like friends. The food is superb. Admittedly Iâve had a few hiccups over the years but theyâve always been rectified immediately. We like the âspecials boardâ which the waitress brings to the table changes every time we go there. The choice is always that bit âdifferentâ but there is the regular lunchtime and the a la carte menus too. Other reviewers say the veg is raw but they probably like theirs soggy and tasteless. Our veg is always al dente and full of flavour which is how it should be. We look forward to our Wednesday trip to Kelbrook and of course, look forward to going again.

This was the choice for dinner when my walking chum and I (after an afternoon supping Timothy Taylorâs ales) picked my daughter up from the adjacent station ahead of she & I walking the BHF Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The food was very tasty and the service friendly & efficient.
